Forgotten who it was (may have been Savage) but he absolutely rubbished those who defend Bale (and others) diving by trotting out the old "any sort of contact at that speed..." line by pointing out just how powerful Bale is and how he brushes players off on the half-way line and it's only in and around the penalty area that he goes down. Case in point with that goal, knocked a pretty big lump Steven Taylor out the way.

Fucking ludicrous. Hate to say it because he was a dislikeable prick but Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best footballers I have ever seen, without a doubt. Stelling harps on about Bale having all the tricks in the book: however you rate Bale he doesn't nearly have a tenth of the technical skill ability of Ronaldo - his game is based on pace and devastating simplicity.

Also says he's just as consistent. In his last two or three seasons at United Ronaldo had literally a handful of off-games a year. Bale will be minimised/closed out of the game in every 3 or 4 games. Positions may be slightly different but Ronaldo's scoring rate has been astounding for the last four or five seasons, Bale's last two seasons have seen him get 7 and 10 league goals respectively.

He's a great player that any squad would love to have but saying he's the 2nd best player in the world must have fans from all over the world fucking laughing at the British media. The extent to which his faults are ignored (persistent diving) and his achievements blown out of proportion (awarded Player of the Year for 7 goals and 3 assists in 10/11) is laughable. Although of course he's going to grab a hat-trick today now I've had this rant.
