Give Sagna his wish and let him move on.....

He was awesome today. Didn't have to worry about getting forward just focussed on defending and all the better for it.

Yep.
Fuck Arsene. Let the team sort it out imo.

Sagna has been our best defender since he joined the club yet was rewarded with a one year deal yet Jenkinson who was like a fish out of water today got a 5 year deal.Wenger has a funny way of rewarding our best players

Sagna will go to PSG and who can blame him

Should be remembered as a legend when he goes imo. Yes he may not have won any trophies, but it was through no fault of his own. Been nothing other than top class for us largely.

Looked so much more comfortable today. Positioning and reading of the game were absolutely superb, won some important headers and was generally solid as a rock.

We would not have kept a clean sheet with Koscielny alongside the non-jumping German. FACT.

Will there be a big outcry not if but when sagna is reverted back to right back for the next game ? By everybodys reckoning sagna was outstanding today and by all accounts BFG played very well alongside him so if our centre back partnership has excelled so much today then should it be changed ? As a former defender I have long since maintained that the right partnership is more important than focusing on the individual abilities of BFG, tv5, or kos and maybe sagna will hopefully give le dickhead reason to pause when picking his next team

I would keep him at centre-half tbh. One swallow doesn't make a summer but in showing composure, positioning, anticipation and actually winning the odd header he put our 3 regular CBs to shame. What do we have to lose from playing him there for a few games at least?

It's not as if we'll miss him at right-back as he's been dire there recently. Jenkinson's red card was beyond stupid today and he was rash all game but given he hasn't played and how he has been in every other game he's featured in this season I'd happily chalk that up to rustiness and give him a few games there.

I'd like to see Sagna play centre-half against Blackburn (play Yennaris or whoever at right-back, shouldn't make much of a difference). They may be shite but they'll undoubtedly lump the ball forward and also Rhodes is a tricky striker. Koscielny needlessly giving away the free-kick against Modeste last year that gave them their goal epitomises why he'll never be a great defender imo.

But Wenger will never drop two of his centre-halves and play Sagna there, he'll be back at right-back soon enough.

Why malign Yennaris?

He and Coquelin have put in assured performances on t'he rare occasion they have helped out at right back?

But agree that might has well keep Sagna at centre back.
Be absurd to sell him.

I wasn't knocking him Quartz, I agree he's done well from what I've seen of him. I'm just saying that against Blackburn I'm not too concerned by having to play an inexperienced kid away from his preferred position at right-back, whereas were we playing Bayern or Spurs I would think twice.

Unless he has fallen out of love with the club completely then the club needs to keep hold of him. 29 years old is no age for a CB/RB - he can go on for years and is still in great nick. We all hope Jenkinson develops into a future top class RB but he has a long, long way to go yet. Let Sagna go and its another step in the never ending transition / rebuilding programme that sees us out of the title race by September. Is a deal to tie the bloke to the club until he is say 32 years old such a gamble??

I too like Yennaris and he hasn't put a foot wrong when he's been asked to play there - but he and Jenkinson should be learning from Sagna for 2-3 more years and getting loan experience first before they are considered regulars for a team such as ours

Bac has shown a slight improvement, in particular a gutsy display as a makeshift CB. A quiet member of the squad who was supposedly very outspoken when RVP sought trophies elsewhere. The obvious lack of commitment resulted in some heavy criticism, possibly this gave him a temporary kick up the arse, but It does now seem that he sees his future elsewhere

Don't agree on Coquelin at all. He has been anywhere from shit poor to average at best. Of course we can't write the guy off based on a handful of games, and he may indeed develop into a good player, but he hasn't impressed me so far and certainly hasn't looked assured at all.
