yep. gremio are swimming in Libertadores money, hence buying barcos from palmeiras. arsenal surely getting some cash back from this loan, not only full wages.RioGooner wrote:From what i've heard, not only Grêmio is covering wages but are paying a fee to get santos on loan. They probably think he'll be as good as the last gunner they got, Gilberto

SSN reporting that a McDonald's in Brasil had to close after running out of food. One eye witness, a clearly traumatised Jose Pele Rodrigo, sobbed; "He... he was like a... like a machine... he just kept eating and eating and then he tried to eat one of the little kids that was having a birthday party and the father had to beat him back with a chair and then he just slid around the floor, trying to bite people, dragging his ass about and barking for more food..."

We paid £5 Million quid for this guy. What a total waste of time that was.

Wenger saying a couple of weeks ago about how Santos is important to the club...
Indeed, now they can save money on Pizza Hut and Burger king now, £50 million to spend in the summer!

Re: santos out on loan
I simply do not understand the logic of this move at all.
We have no cover for Kieran Gibbs at all for the champions league and we are weak for left side midfield in general.
By doing this deal we have effectively acknowledged that Bayern Munich will beat us in the CL
Whilst we will save some money in the short term failure to qualify for next years CL will cost us dearly so I
dont see any benefit for us at all.
Another medium priced player on huge wages ,he wont be able to be sold so we can easily see him on loan at a loss for the rest of his contract.
Thing is through he can play and a stint at left side midfield might have helped us !
Such a well run club !

You seem to have left out the bit about him being a fat jersey swapping kúnt...Herd wrote:I simply do not understand the logic of this move at all.

I would agree Herd were it not for the fact that imo he's so fucking awful that there are so many other better options like youth players or playing players out of position.
I personally don't see him being useful at left-mid, especially given the attacking pressure on the role with only 1 up front. First of all he wouldn't track back and work the flank like Podolski and the Ox do. And secondly whenever he was going forward from left-back this season he would just run down blind alleys, try and bundle his way through, lose the ball and then foul the defender to everyone's frustration. Almost without fail.

Andre Santos: Arsenal haven’t seen the last of me, I still have a future here.
http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/footbal ... 91536.html
“The idea is to go there, play well and be able to come back strong. Do I have a future at the club? For sure. This is a loan deal and after this season we will see where everything stands.
“I always wanted to stay here until the end of my contract. This is a club where I feel comfortable and honoured to play. However, when the club acquired another left-back it was clear to me that I will not play. I need to play, get my confidence back and Gremio is a good platform for this.
“I talked [with Wenger] and we decided together this would be a good chance for me to get on top of my game. He gave me a hug and told me Arsenal would always welcome me back with open arms. He did [want me to stay] but he wanted to see me happy and if I am not performing all the time, then I am not happy"
