THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Dont like our formation that never changes when we need to try something different. Munich will destroy us and then it will be a hateful run of games until the end of the season. Wenger will not leave.

True to form, with the team clueless in the last 10 minutes trying to break down a determined Rovers rearguard, AW spends it crouched down like Basil Fawlty, berating the 4th official, and moaning about the Rovers player taking too long over a throw in - in the 92nd minute.
A convincing first leg win for the Germans would now surely bring the curtain down on the Wenger years.

Whoever is responsible for that banner is an embarrassment to the Club and themselves.

Why is there still a debate about Wenger continuing ?!?

If anyone had said 6 years ago, Arsenal will win nothing for the next 5 years or at the start of this season " Arsenal will lose to Bradford and then to Blackburn at home in the cups, followed by struggling to make the champions league top 4" would be dismissed as "don't be stupid!"

Well that's what's happened....and there's still a debate !!

The reality is that many people are not even attending the games having paid for a season ticket, lack of season ticket renewals alongside missing the champions league next season indicates financial issues in 2 years... Watch this space....

Convinced training is too centred around possession, and not enough around power runs and shots on goal.
Today's game saw us have nearly all the ball, but what did we do with it?
A few shots but not enough.

For some reason there is a question mark after 'Wenger Out' on the site. As 'Fever Pitch' has just said on this thread, can there really be any debate anymore about the need for change?

I think a huge chunk of the problem is that our system, amongst its various deficiencies, is overly reliant on a quality striker Quartz. Teams will set up with 4 defenders on the edge of their own area and Jack and Santi can create space etc 25-35 yards from goal but it's unlikely to go anyway without a striker who will drag the defenders around, get in behind or capable of scoring with one/two deadly touches. In stoppage time today we had the ball in the final third and they had 6 defenders and a keeper in the box and we only had Giroud.

Bradford was obviously not our finest hour at all but to be honest we didn't play anywhere near as badly enough to create as little as we did. Problem was that they were organised and sat back, and Gervinho up front was so awful that every single move broke down at him. Likewise today, imo Giroud was awful. He was lazy, his movement was shocking, his touch was abysmal and he just kept trying to flick the ball round the corner. It was so bad that Wilshere came on and just played left wing because it was clear nothing was going to happen through the middle, such was the lack of movement in front of him. And I'll be damned if he didn't do more there than any of the other wingers playing.

Yes, van Judas is a great player but is he really better than the combined additions of Wilshere and Cazorla (plus the improvement in Walcott and added depth/quality of Podolski out wide)? Imo no way, but our system is so over-reliant on the striker that we're in even worse shape this year somehow.

Merse and Charlie turn on wenger

Post by nut flush gooner »

Earlier in the season Merse said be careful what you wish for. Now its the fans have been let down by our team selection today. I have been AKB right up until the swansea game this season, now I cant defend the guy. We have mediocrity right through the team, half of this shower wouldn't make the bench of our glorious invincibles.

Was it really only 9 years ago. How the mighty has fallen. Why did we ever leave highbury.

You know everything is truly fucked when you find yourself agreeing with an idiot like Merse and a *word censored* like Piers Moron.
