if this individual or any other rips anyone off through this forum, let us know. we can hand their IP address to the authorities and they can then look into tracing them. obviously they may use an internet cafe, but if they are actively ripping off a lot of people in various ways, then the authorities might at least look into it. i'll try and have a word with a bloke who i know in the police who is pretty IT savvy to find out, but in the short term, if you let us know of any abuse here, we can at the very least block the IP address they are using. they can then use another machine of course, but if they are operating from home, then at least it will cause some inconvenience.
i guess the message is to ALWAYS be wary of anyone who wants more than face value plus booking fee. and even at face value, if it is someone you do not know, and has no track record here, then best meet to do the exchange. an alternative is a post-dated cheque. if the seller does not accept this, then tell them that we will vouch for you - on the assumption you are a regular and have met some of the other regulars on matchdays, as many have. they can always consult the list of trusted buyers on the for sale and wanted section if in doubt

at least you can cancel it if there is any funny business even if they have processed it ahead of time. so if no ticket turns up in time, you only lose the fiver charge (or whatever it is) to cancel the cheque

STEARMASTER,
I VOTED YES BECAUSE NEW PEOPLE ARE JOINING THE FORUM ALL THE TIME AND I FEEL IT IS HARSH TO AUTOMATICALLY LABEL THEM ALL TOUTS.
OF COURSE IT WOULD BE GREAT IF PEOPLE MADE THEMSELVES KNOWN WITH A FEW CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FORUM BEFORE ASKING FOR A TICKET. BUT EXPERIENCE HAS SHOWN US THAT NOT EVERYONE NEW HAS BAD INTENTIONS. JUST THINK OF A FEW PEOPLE WHO ASKED FOR TICKETS AS A FIRST POST AND ARE NOW REGULARS.
THE THING IS IT'S ULTIMATELY UP TO YOU WHO YOU DECIDE TO TRUST AND WHAT ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE. HOWEVER, ONE OF THE REASONS WE SET UP THE 'TRUSTED TICKET SELLERS/BUYERS' THREAD IS TO HOPEFULLY HELP PEOPLE DISTINGUISH THE REAL GOONERS FROM THE CHARLATANS.
