Re: Arsene Wenger - For him or against him?

Post by northbank123 »

He's laying in the grave that he's dug (and continues to dig) for himself. In 2008/2009 he could have walked away with his head held high, and he would rightly have been remembered for his magnificent successes - the three or four years since the trophy would have been disregarded.

Instead he has decided to plough on, becoming more and more ardent and blinkered and dragging the team down with him. He has tested the patience of every single Arsenal fan with his decisions and conduct in the last few years. For me the final straw came after the humiliation at Old Trafford and the aftermath, and to be honest I was probably delaying it for months before that - even since that point we've fallen so much and yet he refuses to budge on anything. I'm sure there are many on here who finally lost patience (long) before that, and we'll have the usual schoolyard "I hate Arsene more" posts.

But the fact that his reign will be remembered for things other than two doubles and an Invincible season is sad but it's nobody's fault but his.

Wenger was right in that press conference, if he was asked a question based on a lie, why not question why someone would pretend its true to the face of the person who would no.

Drawing a line under that particular question concerning a alleged 2 year contract extension.

He is rattled, so he should be we've just been beaten by a championship team we'll finish trophyless again and we'll go at least almost 9 years without a trophy. All the 'beliefs' and lies have caught up with him and he has nowhere to hide. Everyone saw it coming by him.

Is Wenger masochist? Why would you do this? why would you try and defy logic, why would you dedicate your life to such a path? Does he hate himself?

He has treated people who cared as much as this club as he did with absolute disdain, and when given opportunities to come back to a path of reason he has outright refused :banghead: , and he has had several opportunities! Instead he destroyed his legacy, and will be shown as another example of an intelligent man succubing to incredible levels of arrogance. An archetypal dictator.

Just seen extracts from the conference on Sky. He has now become a total embarrassment to himself (which I don't care about) but more importantly the Club. Can members of the Board seriously look at that conference and not think they are dealing with a man that is no longer rational?

God help him but Arteta had to sit through the whole thing. He has to be convinced that his manager is cracking up.

You only have to look at Arteta sitting next to him at times looking on in disbelief. The press have the right to ask questions they believe are linked to tommorows game i.e confidence etc & news around the club.

Blackburn & the reaction of himself & the team to the result were totally reasonable angles to ask him about.

Might be a moot point we didn't have 11 internationals starting on Saturday clue being the bloke OGL was sitting next to!

I love how he refused to talk about Blackburn because it was a conference about Bayern, then when asked about Bayern’s defence said "I don't talk about Bayern Munich today".

To be fair matt law has been one of the few journo's that has questioned wenger for ages now and has usually defended the right of Arsenal fans to feel anger towards the people running our club and that includes wenger 8)

This sums it all up for Wenger:

He is as good as GONE. I believe he'll walk at the end of the season.

He's a shadow of the man he once was, surely enough is enough, all of my AKB mates at work have now turned, even our "superfans" in Singapore should be calling for his head now.

According to Goal, Arsene Wenger held talks with the board and is requesting that David Dein be brought back to the club.

Wenger enjoyed his time at Arsenal while he had his best friend Dein with him but things changed after Dein left. Seven years without a trophy, big players leaving Arsenal and no good replacement for them.

According to Goal, Wenger wants to sign good players and feels he can only do that with Dein with him.

We only hope to see how that works but I would really love it if David Dein comes back provided he has not lost his magic
