Jack's best position

Post by Soul of mischief »

Was having an argument with a mate about this. He firmly believes that Wilshere shouldn't be played as no 10 or the CAM in fifa terms because he thinks that his final ball and shot isn't good enough yet. He thinks he would be better being further back in a more traditional central midfield role, partnered with a hulk of a DM, and then driving forward and creating for Cazorla, who will in turn do the final creating/scoring. In a way the second goal against Villa yesterday shows what he wants, with Jack slightly further back.

I do see his point in that sometimes Jack can be wasteful in the final third, and that Jack's not afraid to get stuck in so defensively he wouldn't have too much of a problem playing further back. But, I reckon, that just because he's good at defending doesn't mean you have to stick him somewhere where he'll have to defend. Chippy wasn't afraid of getting stuck in sometimes, doesn't mean he should have been played further back. I think, with more games till the end of the season, Jack's final pass and shot will improve. He was banging them in for fun at youth level, he has it in his locker. What do you lot reckon.

I trust Wenger to do what he did with Arshavin, Nasri, Bendtner etc and now with Cazorla and eventually stick him out on the wing

i said this a while ago for the same reasons, not alot of end product.id persnonally love to see him a bit deeper bringing the ball out and acting as a bit of a shield to our defence, although we dont really have a defence do we :(

Your mate is spot on, his best position is controlling the game in the middle, driving a team forward, he is not a no10.

Quite probably down the King's Road or Old Shatford actually. It's inevitable.

Prefer him to play deep midfield, for the good of the team.
He is creative, but can tackle too, which we need deep midfield.

Cazorla then can play number 10, where he is better than on the wing.
