Captain Williams Gallas has admitted he has no "mates" at the Emirates. "They are more like acquaintances," the France international said. "At Arsenal there is Theo Walcott but he is very young. Really, it's the guys at [former club] Chelsea. It always gives me pleasure to see them again."

how can he have no mates, the arsenal boys seem easy enough to get along with

I saw that as well. I think the media might be twisting his words. If he liked it so much in Chelsea, surely he would have stayed. Or maybe it's just him talking again without thinking of the consequences

I'm trying very very hard to stand by Gallas, but the more I think about it, the more I think that the guy is mentally ill or something.
He isn't right, something about him isn't right.
Next to letting Pires go, making Gallas captain may be Wenger's only other mistake.

Even his team-talks seem odd. It's the way he speaks and acts, very strange.

Perhaps its an age/captain thing that stops him being matey on the same level.

It also doesnt look like that from that crossbar challenge clip on youtube - he seems very friendly with the others.

He didnt look too friendly with the Chelsea players in the tunnel on sunday

Not that I would take anything this little crunt says seriously, but didn't Bentley say before that there is never any banter at Arsenal and its more like a job than a passion?

Hleb said recently that they are all silent during training and before games out of respect to AW but once the games over they chill out and the African players get everyone, including wenger, dancing.

I also read a 'day in the life of Galla' at the weekend and i disagree, he seems very sweet and honoured to captain Arsenal. He arrives an hour early for training to answer fan mail, he stays later than most because he feels he's not the most skillfull of players and he praises the fans a lot. He seems like a family orientated man who loves his job. I think he's just older and at the end of his career, frustrated that he's only a few season left to win trophies while his colleagues are all beginning their careers.

That seems a lot more likely. After all a 30 year old married man with children doesn't have a lot in common with a load of carefree young lads.

I think this is a twist to a question he answered a few days ago. Asked if he had friends at Arsenal, he seems to have thought they meant English friends and so he mentioned he got along with Walcott but that his friends were at Chelsea and named several English players. Not a single foreign one at Chelsea was named

As for this story about Gallas not having any friends at Arsenal - itâ€™s a complete stitch up by the Daily Mail, apparently. He was asked about England players, not friends, hence his remarks.
