Realistically the only way we can qualify for the CL

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I hope we don't qualify for the CL. It's a borefest that we've no chance of winning & missing out on it is the only way we'll find out if things are gonna change at our club.

Bring on Thursday nights trip to Zrinjski Mostar, yes please. :barscarf:

Why are people assuming we'll qualify for the Europa League?

Who cares about the money spinning champs league.....it's not like we'll try and win it and it gives the lazy tossers that play for us a chance to say to their agents I'm a champs league team player get me a rise....I need to get a Ferarri.

You can stick the champs league same place the chavs, shitty and PSG have stuck the FFP rule book

Oh Jesus the thought of actually finishing below the euro league places has given me a semi  I would absolutely love it if we didn't qualify for either competition but from a financial point of view and the increase in pressure it would bring on wenker plus playing thurs nite football does not appeal at all

I don't want to be the voice of optimism here (as if  ) but have you seen the scum's next 6 fixtures ? There is not one easy game in there although they are playing with confidence now. The chavs have the easiest of the next 6 games but the way they are playing, fcuk knows how they will do  Lastly our own next 6 games have tricky games starting with Swansea away next week

come on chaps, where's that Arsenal spirit :D :D

still 30 pts to play for, Tottenham are only 7 pts and Chelsea are only 5 pts ahead of us.

They still have to play each other and Tottenham have some tough games still to come Liverpool, Swansea, Everton, Man City, Wigan & Stoke

I'll be delighted when we don't qualify for the CL for two main reasons.....

1) It will hit them in the pocket hard *
2) It will mean he has to take the FA Cup and Mickey Mouse cup seriously

* But it will also mean that Wilshere or Cazorla will be sold :(

I want us to be in the Champions League because it is a massive revenue loss to be absent from it, with increased risk of player flight and finding it harder to attract new players in the summer.

But if we fail to qualify for the Champions League I would prefer to be entirely absent from European competition.

The Europa League would earn us very little compared to the amount of traveling and playing time we would have to put in, with their increased risk of player fatigue and injuries.
(I do not accept that just because players are well paid they should not feel tired, the two are not inexorably linked).

Far better that the raw truth be laid out for all to see, that we are not good enough.
The task for Wenger will be clear, and the lack of European competition will allow us to focus on the league.
Because Wenger has a contract until summer 2014, and even if we finish 10th this season, I believe he will be at the club next season.

1.Good - a loss in revenue will be the only thing that will attract the c**ts attention in the boardroom

2.You mean if we dont qualify for champs league we wont be able to retain the services of key players (and captains) like cesc and rvp ? Horse has bolted long ago quartz. Any player with any small piece of self respect and ambition would want out of this club regardless of whether we in champions league next year or not

3.What you mean that we will no longer be able to attract the likes of klingon, giroud, santos et al ? Good fcuking news :barscarf:

Because Everton are really inconsistent. We're terrible against the top four sides, but are usually capable of beating the teams below us at home. Everton have failed to beat the following teams at Goodison Park this season: Aston Villa (3-3), Swansea (0-0), Norwich (1-1), and Newcastle (2-2). Just when it seems like they're in a position to go above us, they'll fluff it up against one of these types of sides. Plus they've still got to play Man City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea, so they have quite a tricky run-in.

Liverpool could conceivably overtake us, but I don't think they will.
