WHAT'S GREATEST SUMMER SIGNING PRIORITY?

Post by QuartzGooner »

If we could only sign one player this summer, which position would it be in?

I would say we need right winger.

Left wing important too, but Gibbs and Traore may just prove to be good there if Rosicky is injured.

The options in the poll are based on my reading of the forums here.
If a position is not listed, it is because I think we are strong there.

For the purposes of the poll, I suggest that Flamini will stay.

Just as cover we need a CB, but our priority HAS to be an out and out winger, doesn't matter if its left or right, I'm not pushy.

Its often been said that Wenger doesn't rate wingers in his style of play, but he had better start fucking rating them, because we are an absolute embarrassment with our wide play.

A genuine, left footed, left winger.

A right winger would be nice too.

newsflash.....goals win games

Lets have a truely world class striker again. It doesn't matter how good your other players are, if they are giving the ball to a muppet, he won't score.

Have to agree with rebel in that 1 player wont quite do it but seeing as I am restricted to 1 vote then I am going for a keeper. I know that the spaniard has not done too much wrong this season but top quality he aint and a top class keeper can be worth 12 pts a season to a team(says the late brian clough and he forgot more about football than most of us will ever know). Anyway I always believe that you build a team from the back and a top class keeper would certainly enhance that - problem is apart from casillas(my no.1) and buffon(just signed a new deal i think) then can you think of any other top quality keepers ?

If I had a 2nd pick then it would be close as to whether I would go for a left winger or a striker although I think I would probably just opt for the former

We need a top class keeper Almunia is the worst of the top 4 teams keepers. Cover at Centre back. Please God a real Winger who can beat a full back and Score goals. And one maybe two top class strikers we cant wait till Eduardo is fit again and RVP how many games will he play next year?

Top class keeper is my number 1 thing. Defences win, or lose you titles and the back four is very good but Almunia is not on the same level as them, a great deputy but so is Kuzack, does anyone think Man U would win the title with him rather then VDS?

Magic

Kuzack is not first choice Almunia is.VDS will come back when fit,we are stuck with Almunia.I have said many times before the best keeper at Arsenal is Jens who didn"t do anything wrong when Almunia was injured

I was saying Almunia's ability was comparable to Kuzack's rather then the brilliant VDS. Since Jens would have left us anyway in the summer (and I want him to play rest of the games), we need a keeper

I think Casillas signed a new long-term deal, so the chances of him being available are about nil too. He's not going to be sold of course, but I assume you would include Cech in your list, even with his relatively poor form this year. Any of those three would be great. I would also be very happy to have Brad Friedel be an Arsenal player.

But it's all irrelevant. While there's a possibility Wenger may sign a winger and/or a striker, I see no prospect of him changing his mind over Almunia. Which is a shame, since Almunia is no more than a good squad player (as his failure to keep out the second Chelsea goal yet again confirms).

I can't believe people are criticising Almunia ! FFS !!!!!!!!!

I have been to Stamford Bridge three times this season - Yes I know! But the reson is another story ! - I've seen Chech, supposedly the best in the world make three awful howlers. One was a replica of Carsons' mistake at Wembley against Croatia. That was the Villa game when they drew 4 - 4.

Almunia is at least as good - I would contend better than Reyna who was rubbish at Old Trafford.

I would also say he is as good as Van de Zar who seldom gets tested because the Manc defense is so strong.

We are crying out for a winger, a centre back, a defensive CM (two if Falmini goes). A new goalkeeper is not a priority and Lehman is heading into retirement. Almunia has been one of our players of the season.

It really bugs me how people decline to give the guy any credit !! :x

If it is back to critisise Almunia time again then thing we need to look in front of that, it is our defence that has caused probs, although only manure and chavs have actually conceded less goals so perhaps there is no problem at all!

Got to be right wing. Eboue is shite, I don't think Theo will work there, Hleb can move over for the three games rosicknote will playt but there is the weakness.

Poss a stop gap up top until Eddie is fit again .
