Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is sitting comfortably in the Emirates Stadium with a guaranteed pay-off totalling over £5million if the unsettled club changes ownership.

A Middle East consortium is reported to be interested in buying Arsenal if absentee American owner Stan Kroenke wants to sell, with billionaire Russian shareholder Alisher Usmanov also in the wings.

Either way, Gazidis is cushioned by a contract agreement that was revealed in club documents relating to Kroenke’s share offer in 2011.

Gazidis, whose earnings of £2.1million a year put him among the three highest paid Premier League CEOs, will receive three times his basic salary — currently £1.3m — plus a year’s worth of bonuses and pension contributions.

He will receive the bumper severance package if he is sacked or if he decides to quit within three months of a takeover.

The Arsenal paperwork states: ‘If Mr Gazidis gives written notice within three months of a change of control or his service agreement is terminated, he is entitled to three times his then gross basic salary and an amount equal to one times his annual pension contribution and bonus within 30 days of termination.’

Not shooting any messenger, but we have a rule that if you quote something you say where it is from. Believe it or not we have had people on here who have passed off articles/blogs as their own!

Fair point Chippy.

The terms of his contract has set alarm bells off. I wonder if Wenger might sign a three year contract extension at the end of this season with similar clauses? Making for a healthy pay off. :rubchin:

I am not sure who would sell first, but I think once Kroenke or Usmanov sells then the other will be willing to sell their shares. They probably don't want to be the first but would be happy enough to know they stayed longer before selling for a profit.

The Arab Consortium bid is real and has been planned for months and Usmanov wants to be the face of the club with them (via @GeoffArsenal

Man City have Arab money. Chelsea have Russian money. Arsenal may soon have both

Apparently Usmanov is close to getting into the Saudi construction market and a Saudi Prince with others wants to join Usmanov at Arsenal

Hearing The consortium will be making a bid to buy out Kronke and then Usmanov will join them. Usmanov will be the face of the club

Kingdom holdings is what you are referring to . the emir of Qatar who tried to bid for man utd Is the guy who has appointed a uk pr company to act for him, the same company that acted in the man city purchase.

The problem remains that Paul Getty warren buffet and Bernie Madoff might all want to buy but if SK won't sell it's all irrelevant.

If Usmanov gets an involvement in the club he will not be the front facing person it would be Farhad Moshiri his partner.

he is an Iranian DAvid Dein is best description , smoth operator very shrewd and smart

First time for everything though. If Kroenke is offered a high profit price for his control of a football club in decline then I don't doubt he'd run to the bank with the cheque. As long a he gets a very nice return on his investment that is what is important to a man like that.

If anyone would of asked me if I wanted Russian/Arab owners at the Arsenal 10 years ago I would of told them where to go but now, it is the only way to compete. Our current board are focused on the commercial aspects of the "franchise" but fail to see that winning on the pitch boots the reputation of the club.

The winds of change have fucked football over and if means selling out to Arabs then so be it. I just want The Arsenal to be a formidable force again.
