sp*rs (a) match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

OneBardGooner wrote:I am more than happy to say anything to your face JD - Name the place and time.
wouldn't dispute that - I'm sure you, me and many others would meet and repeat what we've posted
my point was: you would not hear a view you disagreed with from a stranger and just start personally abusing them
that's what you did, you said you were a bit pished, fair play, its forgotten
OneBardGooner wrote:However I doubt you would be willing to do the same - to those you have 'Trolled' YES! "Trolled" over the past few seasons...you seem to forget or not fully realise the 'effect' of some of the things you have said
which things? I'm sure I've made mistakes, I've never said anything I didn't believe as I posted it - that would be my definition of 'trolling'
OneBardGooner wrote:......But for the sake of harmony(ish)..I did over-react...and apologise I was extremely 'drunk' at the time...No excuse just FACT..
we've all done it. Understandable, there's not much about the club to make people feel positive at the moment.
OneBardGooner wrote:btw: my offer to meet anyplace anytime still stands...for anyone...I'm the first to admit if I'm wrong or have reacted overtly...'But I also stand by what I do and say...regardless and am willing to 'Man Up'
offering a different view to me doesn't require much 'manning up', I'm a small bespectacled pacifist. Happy to meet anyone - I'll be in Munich but unfortunately not at many more games this season
OneBardGooner wrote:The thing is you seem to delight in winding up people when they have stated their opinions - Not just because you happen to disagree - but it very much feels and seems like you enjoy doing so....I could be wrong, but from the various comments I have heard expressed (in person) from others I don't think so...at least not all the time.
I listen to what people say, and analyse it statement by statement - politicans, media, football managers, online posters, works of fiction, my family - whoever. It's just how I look at information.

If some historic thing I've said has so angered you (or others) that you're still responding in anger to that
please tell me what it is. I possibly didn't mean what you think I did/made a mistake/was drunk
the statement that annoyed you here (Wenger decent with Messi and Ronaldo) was, in my mind, innocuous...
OneBardGooner wrote:also Flash and DB were just 'Modding', so it's unfair to blame them...so ave go at me by all means....
I accept that flash was trying to say calm down in advance of me getting annoyed
as opposed to saying I needed to calm down what I'd already posted

oh the whole meeting anybody thing - not so sure about mcdowell
I'm openminded
but it's pretty obvious his JD crush is beyond his control

Just read the last couple of pages and it's impossible not to shake your head in amazement at how quickly things can get out of hand on here. :o

I'm not sure what's worse, the childish baiting or the extreme levels of offence taken by it.- what's fueling it? I can almost imagine people sat behind their keyboards at work with a twitching eye, or a pulsing vain in their forehead, visibly shaking from nicotine addiction or an overdose of caffeine  - and yet, despite the childish baiting and over the top offence taken by it, you can almost guarantee that as soon as a work colleague or customer enters the office or is on the phone, a normal, rational, mature human being suddenly breaks through and allows them to function in a polite and professional manner :o

How can people lead these double lives? or are they in jobs devoid of human interaction?

It's a mystery and also a little worrying :? :o

is there a sewing machine update for those who've missed the story?
was going to make an outside the 'clique' joke but know it doesnae go down that well

Honestly not an attempt to start a row
I had a concern something I posted may have been misconstrued
or I might have posted some nonsense when pished and forgotten about it

all I'd done is post that despite Wenger's strategic failings, he's been a good manager with good players
is being 'calm' not posting anything that might make Bard throw himself to the floor and cry?
Jeez Louise this board has got sad...

Steve is 100% right: attempt any semi-positive analysis,
stray from the standard toys out of pram crying whining, hatred of the manager,
you can expect personal abuse - then mods including you in general admonishments

I disagree with (most) people on this board,
but I've never fought against people's right to hold their views

if certain viewpoints are banned, be up front about it - rename the board Arsene haters only or WOBarmy or whatever
don't ask people with any kind of positive nuance to 'calm down'
I don't mind you having any opinion you want and the same goes for Steve I who i think is a very good poster even though he is pro Wenger (the posters i apparently hate) but JD can't you see that i was trying to calm things down before they got out of hand. In my opinion you could have flared up after reading OBG's post and therefore a call for calm before the Scheiße hit the fan was probably the best road to go down :?
OK
that all sounds pretty reasonable...

doesn't help me with the fact I hardly slept last night and my knee hurts
what are you gonna do about that 'mod'

yes yes flash is right and I was over sensitive about the calm down shizzle
   now I DO Feel Bad.

The Arse are driving a lot of people to booze,
our official drink should be something a lot stronger than Carlsberg

Luckily what kept me awake was my evil kids and shonky knee ligaments rather than the horrors of the forum
There were a couple of historic issues - once where I got pissed off and over reacted
once where I didn't consider an alternate offensive interpretation of a post
that I thought might be being referenced

Bloody hell

JD, the "childish baiting" comment was not aimed at you... it was aimed more at those who try and wind you up for no good reason!
