Does anyone here read Arseblog?
Boy has he gone corporate. First the book being part of the membership package and now he is being linked on Pravda . Makes it very difficult to bite the hand that feeds him, and whilst I like his prose, his knackers must have suffered more damage that a post-op Thai ladyboy with all the fence sitting he's been doing on the key issue of the moment: AKB v WOB.

Re: Does anyone here read Arseblog?
Its pravda's current objective to get everyone onside holding meetings with black scarf, linking arseblog to their website etc etc etc.... Keep everyone sweet and they slag you off less.....
Personally i don't read blogs either

This guy owns the fence.
I guess it may be that his intention was to be published, etc...therefore he has achieved his objective.
Unfortunately, he is now asked for comments on Arsenal and provides no insight whatsoever and sounds more like a neutral journalist (see above).
Placing yourself in the centre ground doesn't automatically make you more rational/sensible than those more vociferous/extreme fans.
But, as with Arsenal/Arsene these days, there are enough people who like him so he's catering to an audience.
Some funny bits on the podcast in the past though. Eboue especially.

I usually read it, but I do see the points that he is in their pocket, therefore reluctant to actually say anything against Arsenal. He has been relatively critical of the manager (for him), but not of the senior execs, so I am presuming that he won't be clamoring for sacking Wenger anytime soon. And Gazidis will never be on the agenda because he is ultimately his paymaster.

I stopped reading it regularly a few months back because of his constant slagging off of R & W and David Dien, they may not be to everyone's taste but regardless of the way DD left there is no doubt that the club was a lot more ambitious and successful when he was in situ. He was quite scathing at times but since joining pravda he has toned down his bloggs except straight after a poor performance..... no doubt forgetting his new found responsibilities.begeegs wrote:I usually read it, but I do see the points that he is in their pocket, therefore reluctant to actually say anything against Arsenal. He is an avid supporter and attends quite a few games but I do feel he has tied his own hands now by his links to the club.
Another reason I stopped reading are the amount of total dickheads that post replies on there, I used to post but as soon as I dared say anything negative or anti Wenger I got slagged off. To many keyboard warriors and not enough true fans on there now!

He was funny (usually, sometime OTT) but I have never really rated his insight on the football side.REB wrote:arseblog was the best arsenal blog and for a few years no one came close to it,
He has always seemed to be at arm's length, following the lead of the press and not quite offering the insight that would make his blog stand out.
I always thought, and still do, think that Gunnerblog is better.
It does not come out every day but it is really well written, concise, and seems to be very much in touch with the opinions of seasoned fans.
And I am a fan of ANR for the professional quality of the writing and the unique insights, even if he does get the odd transfer coup wrong.

I used to love it, would always read it religiously every day but now only dip in and out occasionally.
A bit like a rock band selling out by having their music played in an ad, his head is so far entrenched up Arsene Wenger and the club's hole he'd be as well off writing a North Korean news-letter.

Re: Does anyone here read Arseblog?
Have been a long time critic of the guy to the point that we once shared an angry exchange of emails
I have felt that he has been in the clubs pocket for a few years now and I got very irate at his pro club anti DD tirade at that time. Lately I have said on here that he seems to have believed his own hype to the point that some of his blogs are childish and focus on how much he drank the night before
For me, if a guy wants to be respected for his love of AFC then he needs to be more honest about what is going on with our club. Sitting back defending wenger and the club is fine when things start to go a bit wrong but to take the same position years later when things are getting worse day by day, suggests that the guy doesn't want to piss off people within the club or that the guy knows fcuk all about football and can't recognise what is happening in front of his eyes

Money no, freebies and junkets yes.Paul Smith wrote:Am I being naive here to think that maybe he doesn't get paid by the club?
Although he must have gotten a few quid for the book to be included in the membership pack.

Re: Does anyone here read Arseblog?
I could be wrong here but I think Arseblogger has gone from writing the blog in his spare time to actually making his living from it. That would explain a lot of the reasons many think he's sold out. To be fair maybe we'd all do the same thing if it was how we made our living.
There is no doubt his blog has lost a lot of its credibility in the eyes of many though and it isnt really worth reading anymore. I find it bland on the rare occassions I bother with it now.
