Reading sack Brian McDermott

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Reading sack Brian McDermott

Post by officepest »

Just been announced. Pretty stupid decision I reckon, he got them up on a budget of about £10 and were always going to struggle, plus the new bloke will have nothing to spend anyway.

All the best for the future Bri, proper Gooner. :barscarf:

Sad, but maybe predictable, news... Have fond memories of McDermott (including the game at Notts County when Brian Kilcline crippled him  !) as a player for us so hope he isn't out of the game too long.

Di Canio may have done well for Swindon but look at the debt they are in - I think it was £13m in the end. That is a huge amount of a club like Swindon.

He will have little money at Reading, although they will obviously have that ridiculous parachute money for a couple of seasons. McDermott worked wonders in taking Reading up - I can't see Di Canio replicating that. He's a nutcase, too.
