Never been a big fan of his in all honesty so can't get too excited over him possibly joining us. Better than the current options but still not good enough.

I agree nb123.
Even if we had to pay £10m for Valdes, it would be money very well spent imo.
Mignolet and Begovic are often mentioned as possible transfer targets, and we did (?) try for Reina at £20m :?
Having Valdes would be ideal for Szczesny to learn his trade properly from a player with a wealth of experience.
If the reports are accurate that he has spoken to Wenger of his desire to come to us, then even better.

Will it happen?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly pondering a move to bring former goalkeepers David Seaman or Jens Lehmann onto the coaching staff at the club.

According to The Mirror, the Gunners boss is planning a shake-up of his goalkeeping department and is thinking about moving for either Lehmann or Seaman, both of whom represented the club with distinction during their time with the Londoners.

Wenger has been perturbed by current goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny's dip in form and rested the Pole for their Champions League exit at Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Seaman was part of the team that won the double in 1998, while Lehmann kept goal during the 'Arsenal Invincibles' season of 2003-04.

It is unsure whether the arrival of either man will mean the end of current goalkeeping coach Gerry Peyton's stay with the club.
lets hope this is true and Peyton walks.if you surround yourself with losers then you become losers, where does your inspiration come from??

And whose fault is it that the klingon, diaby, denilson, bendtner and wally are not good enough then ? Peyton gets a lot of flak for our goalkeeping weaknesses when maybe it should be down to a lack of quality in the keepers themselves (or arrogance in chesney's case) ?

Walcott.........seriously, I have been a critic of his for sure but the lad has scored a 18?goals and 11?assists, up there witht the best of them in a very ordinary side, had he been at manu this season he would probably be on 23 goals and 20 assissts which would be the best pound for pound player in the league regardless of whether at times he is accused of going missing.

After all, don't all forward players "go missing" quite a lot.

Lefty I agree with what you're saying but best pound for pound player in the league if he was at United? He'd be scrapping for his place with Valencia, Young and Nani and he would sure as hell have to do some defending and improve the consistency of his crossing, instead of being allowed to roam free wherever he pleases.

Well I may have used artistic licence there to emphasise a point (after all it's the done thing on here  ) but what I was trying to get across was that had Theo been supplying RVP this season he would have even more assists and had he played for manure he would have more chance and hence more goals.

I agre with you that he would have ajob on his hands for a starting place at manure but that is often good for aplayer as it brings out the best in them and to be fair he has been on the bench a lot this season for us, I think I read his stats are miles better then bales when it is compared to minutes played.

Stats..........I know

Petr Cech is the surprise name on Arsenal’s six-man shortlist to replace goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny next season.

The Chelsea keeper has been watched extensively by Gunners scouts.

and so, it come's to pass........

Arsenal keen to trigger £4m release clause.

Arsenal are considering activating their £4m buy-back clause for Real Sociedad attacker Carlos Vela, according to reports from The Express.

:D

----------------------------------------

Arsenal will have to battle with Russian moneybags Anzhi Makhachkala to land defensive target Adil Rami from Valencia.

The Gunners are keen to bolster their defensive options at the end of the season and Rami is reportedly boss Arsene Wenger’s top target, after an impressive season in La Liga.

I am not sure Vela would be a good buy, though he was good in the early rounds of the league cup getting a few goals.

I still think that it's unfair he wasn't given a proper run in the team as a second forward rather than a lone one or played out wide, and believe he could still be a good player for us in the right formation. Undoubtedly better than our other back up strikers.
