THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wenger ate my son's hamster.

And his train set.

Seems his father did say such stuff, however...

From his national team training camp in Poland, Wojciech Szczesny has requested the following statement to be released on his behalf:

“I would like to apologise for the comments made by my father which have been used by both Polish and English media.

"I'd like to make it clear that those were the views and opinions of my father and not mine, and although I respect his views I cannot accept them as I find them disrespectful to the club I truly love.

“I have been at Arsenal Football Club for seven years now and I have always shown my full respect to the Club, Arsène Wenger, all the coaching staff, my team-mates and the fans.

"I've always felt that I received great support from the manager and the fans and I am fully focused on getting back to my best.

“I am proud to be a part of Arsenal and I see my future at this great club.”

Haha, reminds me of this joke on how the Republicans blame everything on Obama.

Trust and Lies

Post by supergeorgegraham »

One thing that has changed for me is trust. A few years ago I would listen to press conferences and what the manager or board members had to say with interest.
Since we have all heard the same record for years now we all know its all lies. In truth we could easily finish 4th now and all would be great but would it.
Of all the things to happen not believing a word the manager says has to be a bad thing. I dont bother listening anymore and I dont care where we finish at all.
I cant discuss Arsenal with any football fan of another club with any respect anymore. In fairness City and Chelsea were always going to turn out as expensive jokes as this season has proved but we have become the new Liverpool.
Big big club hitting way way below what they should be and the manager gets away with it.

I agree (although I still care where we finish up) and also wonder if several of the players feel / have felt the same over the last few seasons, as it would explain a lot.

I agree with Herd's stance on this one. Wenger talked bollocks when we were good and he talks it now that we're bad too. Do you think man yoo fans can believe everything that comes out of whiskey nose's mouth? It's all about results. Wenger will say whatever he thinks he needs to in public, personally I judge him on what I see every saturday and couldn't give a monkeys about the rest.

The 'fans' I know do - completely brainwashed.

I do agree with your general point though, you can say whatever you want when you're successful but you look like a dick if you can't back it up with results. Although when he crosses the line from nonsensical to disrespectful as he has done on a few occasions this season then that's a different story.

I'm more against him than ever.....as each disastrous season goes by my dislike for him grows stronger and stronger. A liar and a bullshitter is Wenger.
