Sunderland was one of my favourite players of all time....and not just for '79!

He just had an uncanny knack of coming up with a goal after seemingly doing nothing else for 80 mins. He also had a great partnership with Stapleton...

His scoring record of about 1 in every 4 games doesn't look great now, but that wasn't exactly a free scoring Arsenal side and I'd wager that most of his goals won us the game.
Yeah, you're right really - I loved him at the time too - just wondering out loud.

Him and Jimmy Rimmer kept us up that year.

Ray Kennedy was a God to me.

Alan Smith was seriously underated due to his unselfish style of play, was a team player, didn't get many spectacular's.

Was golden boot winner twice with us (I think 89 and 91, which propelled us to title victories)
Scored winner in the European final v Parma 1994
Scored the first of the 2 at Anfield 89 and played the ball through to Micky T, who only had a minute but then he went and did it !

Became the target man / foil that enabled Wright to grab the goals in his first year or two.

Jens Lehmann

Loads of people slate him but I honestly think he is the best GK we've had.

Adebayor + Arshavin come to mind

Adebayor was fairly prolific for us post Henry, until his final season. I think his ego got too big toward the end. He should have just said 'I am an Arsenal player and I have a contract until the year X'. Instead he kept inviting it, with references to Beyonce etc. Oh and his performances deteriorated. Perhaps 'legend' is a bit overstated but I do think he is underrated because of the controversy.

Arshavin. Legend. Don't care the fact that he's done bugger all for 2 seasons. That guy saved us from dropping out of the top 4 in 2008 and we were having such a shit season. He lightened it up oh and dont forget the goal against Barcelona. Great moment.

Jimmy Rimmer

Its nearly a 100 years since we played in a lower division and that record only stands because of him.Without him we would have been relegated in 75 and 76

Ray Parlour. not the most talented but a loyal workhorse. and then there's that goal...

imho Smudger is a proper legend - he won us the ECWC, and would have a very distinguished England career with his former strike partner Lineker if we'd of had better management.

Under Rated

Paul Davis - skillful, used to make time on the ball for himself.

Robert Pires - I think he was as good as Bergkamp.
