A truly shocking stat (positive thread alert)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

A truly shocking stat (positive thread alert)

Post by LDB »

14 goals conceded away from home in the league all season. Best away defence in the league :barscarf: :barscarf:

For all the low points of this season we have also at times seen far more fight then has become customary of Arsenal in recent seasons

Bould in? :barscarf:

We also haven't lost in the West Midlands since 2005 apparently (obviously restricted to the county and not the region which would include the Britannia Stadium in Mordor).

Yes, it's a very specific stat  - but presumably includes Villa, Birmigham, WBA, Wolves and Coventry.

(Have we really not lost to Villa for nearly a decade? - I seem to remember that stat being mentioned, but still a surprise as Villa Park isn't the easiest of destinations... and we've hardly beem brilliant since 2005 either :? :o )

Did Villa Park pretty much every year for a decade and I think the last time we lost there was a 3-2 defeat where we threw away a 2 goal lead about 1998/9? Not sure if it was the same match where (a) Santa fell off the roof :barscarf:

Great conclusion, however we've scored MORE goals than EVERY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE apart from United.... so "the stats" suggest our attack is good, doesn't it? :?

Stats, eh... great to use for confirmation bias! :barscarf:

Wait, Chippy is about to put forth a gem, an epigram, a solipsism, "the only stat that matters is the League table," read it and weep. You can all relax now.

 :D

13th december 1998 was the last time we lost at villa park
it was the game that was delayed because the skydiver crashed into the roof before the kick off
we were 2-0 up thanks to bergkamp but got pulled back

Thank fuck for that or we wouldn't be just 21 points behind Utd.

Do you know what we are going to give Bould and the defence an open top bus parade to the Town Hall to celebrate this great achievement.Sod winning trophies its all about defensive records.RVP will be jealous
