An iron lady? She was a soft shite who was in tears when she realised that she had to resign as her own party wanted shot of her. There were a fuck load more "iron ladies" in the areas that she destroyed who kept putting food on the table for their children when the ship yards, mines and steel works closed and their men were out of work. Iron lady? She wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes. We'll not even mention apartheid and Pinochet. Fuck her. Mind I like the line doing the rounds on twitter and the likes where people are wondering if the Thatcher residence will be getting a letter stating "as a result of recent events it has come to our attention that you now have a spare bedroom"

The Mackem lad is 100% right
Shame on the Tory scum vermin on here
Thatcher's legacy is the Tarquin infested stadium that we have moved to whilst destroying our traditional core working class support in the process.
Thatcher destroyed communities & jobs, bribed people to vote for her by selling council houses, used massive unemployment as economic policy to drive wages down & reward the ruling elite with more profit, even selling nationalised industries for knockdown prices.

Just because some of us don't want to type abuse about her that doesn't represent anyone's political agenda or opinion.

Why are you branding fellow members scum or vermin even if they are Tories?
Because some choose not to insult a woman who has died, no matter what she did in her POLITICAL life, does not represent their political agenda, does not represent their opinion of the woman, it just represents how they feel regarding the death of a fellow HUMAN!

What's wrong with some of you people? Tory Scum Vermin? Glad she's dead? For fuck's sake grow up and accept that some people might have different opinions and might not actually want to read shit like this on here. Regardless of people's opinions, I don't want to come on here and see blind hatred or abuse for anyone with different opinions. There's the Ian Duncan Smith thread and now this one. I hear Mandela might sadly be on his last legs, he was in politics, let's wade in there shall we?

Re: Thatcher Dead
she will be remembered for being the 1st lady Prime minister, winning 3 terms, Falklands War, the Mining Riots, Poll Tax Riots, Taking away free school milk, and almost getting blown up in Brighton
I was very young when growing up in the 80s under a Thatcher government, i remember my dad being made redundant, hardly having any food on the table and the house being constantly cold and damp, so basically still the same as we have now
at least i hope she gets a state funeral, could do with a day off during the week

Re: Thatcher Dead
Good riddance to her
In 1979 unemployment was 0ne and a quarter million.Remember the Tory posters Labour isnt working.Within 3 years of her premiership it was 3 and a half million
She did nothing about the troubles in Northern Ireland which first John Major and then Tony Blair succeded in getting both sides around the table
Bury the bitch in the Falklands

Good on them. It will be a sad day if people can only have strong views if personally affected by something and if students can't read up on what Thatcher did and be hostile then god help the rest of us.northbank123 wrote:I can understand the extreme nature of people's hostility towards her if they were personally affected in some way by her policies - whether it be themselves, their families or their region.
I grew up during the Thatcher era. Working class family, but in the south east. We didn't personally lose our jobs. I even exercised the right to buy my council flat. But that doesn't mean I was blind to the divisive way she ran the country. And you should remember that if she had her way away fans would have been banned. She absolutely hated football fans!!

How can people clap and cheer the death of someone? When Muslim extremists do it we all go into a rage over it.

Re: Thatcher Dead
I was talking about the young people/students who couldn't even tell you what decade she was in power or one of her single policies or even what she generally stood for, and who would never ever consider registering to vote - not those who have a genuine understanding and passion on her/the subject. Believe me, I've met plenty of those people, and I'd put a large number of good friends in that bracket.MK Gould wrote:Good on them. I'm not spouting some elitist rubbish that only people with a university degree and/or an interest in politics has a right to an opinion on the matter or anything like that, but I don't think it's unreasonable to criticise people for cheering somebody dying without even knowing why they supposedly hate said person. If you're going to express your delight at somebody's death then the least you can do is make sure you're informed and have a bit of knowledge on the matter.
