Re: Weekends other games
Not expecting a repeat of either of last year's wet trousers moments when they announced after we beat the Orcs that Citeh had hammered them 6-1 away or when Scholes and Giggs were sent out to chase shadows whilst United's season crumbled before their eyes in April.
In fact I hope United win as they'll then only need 4 points to sew up the title (even if Citeh win at Spurs), and surely they'd get that against Stoke, Whammers and Villa. Would make me fucking sick if they came and won it on our patch. Although maybe Wenger could be pictured beaming lifting the trophy together with van Judas.

Re: Weekends other games
Mancini claiming they lost the league because of missed signings - pathetic. They have spent hundreds of millions and last year won the league - especially considering their wage expenditure they are now at a level where they don't need to sign hoardes of players to compete with the best, there's no reason in theory why they need to spend any more than United do.
Balotelli didn't make a huge difference - the reason they'll end up about 10 points worse than last year is because Mancini has done a terrible job this season, has bought poorly in the past and has very little motivational ability (which is key when the main attraction is money). Fuck me, half the PL managers could claim they would have won the league were they able to sign van Judas, Javi Martinez, de Rossi, Hazard and Agger.
Missed signings aren't the reason they haven't won the league. Over-reliance on a few quality players and a dependence on greedy part-timers like Nasri, Tevez and so many others combined with Mancini's mis-management is the reason. Missing signings didn't make them go backwards 10 points.

Haven't read his quotes but didn't he say something like "if we'd signed everyone we wanted we would have won the league"?northbank123 wrote:Mancini claiming they lost the league because of missed signings - pathetic. Yeah, we probably wouldn't have done bad if we'd signed who we wanted; Messi, Falcao, Goetze, Cavani etc

He said that if they'd signed their top 5 targets.... they'd probably be top and most likely in the Champions League quarter-finals too.Dan_85 wrote:Haven't read his quotes but didn't he say something like "if we'd signed everyone we wanted we would have won the league"?northbank123 wrote:Mancini claiming they lost the league because of missed signings - pathetic. Also, the "Hey Jude" chant. Have no other fans realised that it only works if the second line actually rhymes with Jude?
"Na na na nananana, nanananaaaaa City!"
"Na na na nananana, nanananaaaaa City!"

Re: Weekends other games
Read this article on Phil Jones by BBC's Chief Football Writer from about 18 months back. If you can stomach it that is.
I only managed to get a few paragraphs through and had to close it when he'd already been compared to Roy Keane, Fernando Hierro, Duncan Edwards and Franco Baresi.
This was the "bargain £16m buy" who has since that piece was written has not even nearly managed to establish him at centre-half despite Vidic barely playing for 18 months, Evans being pretty calamity-prone and Ferdinand creaking, and hasn't nailed down the right-back berth even though Rafael cannot defend.

Re: Weekends other games
Also always nice to see United get knocked down a peg or two and the treble they were on for is nowhere to be seen now, but this result has radically increased the chance that they'll be winning the league at our place.
They need 10 points to wrap the title up if Citeh win their next 3 games, and United have 3 pretty straightforward fixtures before they play us so I think they'll have a chance to win it at our place
