Do ManUre get help from referees or is this a myth?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The point i'm making is sp*rs fans think about us, what we (or some of us) think about united..... The small/lesser team thinking the bigger team gets breaks but in reality its just not true

I disagree mate, didn't manure go 3 seasons without conceding a penalty at home and some that weren't given in that time were absolutely blatant.

Refs are petrified of Fergie and tha's just the truth, we in our time used to get the rub of the green when we had a team full of intimidating figures and you could see the ref couldn't wait for the game to be over. Likewise manure with keane, becks, stam, scholes etc used to follow the ref around like a pack of hyenas

Big teams get the rub of the green most of the time and manure seem to get the most like liverpool did some years back.

I suppose you could argue that manure are the biggest supported club in this country and on average that must mean that the percentage of refs who supported them as a boy are higher than that of other clubs..... :rubchin:

Or is this taking the conspiracy to a whole new level.....

Who cares we still haven't won anything for an age

The season i did the bet with the sp*rs fan was the 97-98 season (the reason i remember this is we conceded a last minute goal at shite hart lane which added one to their column and take one of mine away) a season we won the league with intimidating players as you said and sp*rs nearly went down yet there was virtually nothing in it!!..... I'm not into all this ref's have it in for us stuff

I didn't say the refs had it in for us mate, more like they favour a team over a season and manure are the most intimidating considering their manager and players, although we have had some shocking calls against us when we have played manure over the last few years. :(

No that's a myth. Actually I never understood why that should happen. Probably they even themselves out over 10 seasons or so but 38 games are not enough. Not even close.

Don't want to imply the refs (deliberately or not) help United though.
A sp*rs fan i worked with used to say Arsenal got more luck than them so i made him a bet and we marked down over the course of a season game changing referee wrong decisions or last minute goals which he said was lucky  anyway over the course of a season there was 1% difference between the two teams and i won the bet. ie things even themselves out over a season
Well first of all I don't think you can call a last minute goal luck but whatever. I don't say they never even themselves out over a season but it's very unlikely that after only 38 games every single one of the 20 teams will have had the same amount of wrong calls in favour/against them which is what the sentence they even themselves out implies. The more games a team plays the more likely it evens out so after 38 games maybe it should be relative even but it's not unlikely that the difference between the most lucky and the most unlucky team is bigger than 10%.

Totally agree about last minute goals not being lucky but i was negotiating with a brain dead sp*rs fan here remember and had to give way on certain criteria for my 'study' and while we're on the subject, my 'study' suggests youre 10% difference is well out and until you do your own i am right 8) :D

you don't think referees careers being fundamentally negatively affected by decisions v manUre affects their judgement?!?
if that's the case, the Prem doesn't just have the best referees in the world
Riley, Webb, Dean et al must be some of the best, most strong minded and moral people in the world
what heroes

haven't seen it, everyone on twatter said it was offside,
the key issue isn't the decision - its the ramifications
at the weekend a lino correctly gave a penalty for us - this was a BIG media issue for two days
the specifics of the decision gone through with a fine tooth comb, Hughton not liking it was reported on ad nauseum
I thought the pen was a key moment (I heard we are unbeaten in 52 games in which we've scored a pen!)
but we did go on to win 3-1

ManUre have a late equaliser incorrectly given
but this is not part of teh narrative, it isn't a story,
a journalist going on about that kind of thing can expect to eventually be banned
if the ref/lino team had disallowed it Fergie woud have gone (even more) mental at their performance and they would not have reffed a ManUre game for ages
might even be dropped from the Prem list 'till things calm down'

the real tragedy of the separate rules that apply to ManUre isn't the corruption
its the fact if probably comes free
