Ain't that the truth. You really just don't know what you're going to get these days. I sure hope our forward line finds their shooting boots on Sat. I would love to see a big win. Although, right now I'll take a win and 3 points anyway we can get it!

So in the latest of an utterly predictable sequence of seasons we have had our purple patch when the pressure was off to get back into virtual trophy contention and having already squandered one chance to put daylight between us and the Spuds we now need to scrape a series of draws and the odd win by a single goal to ensure only goal difference will separate us on that glorious day of celebration at Newcastle in May

The shittiest of 1-1 draws......but.....

.....the glory of 4th still beckons as Spurs lose to City, Arsene gets his new deal for the honour of scraping above a team with a £50m lower wage bill and we all get to party on down at the BBQ of the year

ONE ARSENE WENGER.......THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER

Can see our timid lot bottling this one....

Lucky if we come away with a draw. Really a pathetic setting when you support a supposed big club, but have to be so wary of them getting a much needed result against a pub team.

That clueless defeatist of a manager can't leave soon enough.

I have been critical of the club and team this season as have most, but what are you basing your sentiments of "we will bottle it" on.

We are in very good form and now he has had the guts to drop the weak link in defence, our full backs are fit and we have compitition for places in midfield and upfront we are playing well - even Tuesday, whilst a win would have been ideal we aquitted ourselves against a very good team well.

It seems that some are going to be getting the knives out if we dont qualify for the CL, or if we do (least we should expect blah blah).

We need to be in the top four, being out of it will hold us back further from the top level team we all want - will a decent manager come to a Europa team? Will decent players? Will we ever compete at the top level again if we have to play Thursday-Sunday....already a proven hinderence for the teams in it, with extra games in Neverland? Will we enjoy never having a game on a Saturday?

The answers to all of the above are debateable, but what isnt, is that we shouldnt write off the short term thinking we will benefit in the long run. IF we make the top four it will be a reasonable acheivement - given all but two clubs would cut their bollcks off at the moment to get there proves that fact. Is it enough? No, but given who these season has panned out it will be something to be a little bit proud of, albeit nothing to shout from the rooftops over.

How we then go forward is a different matter, but right now, for the next few weeks we need to get behind the squad because we all actually want the same thing - an Arsenal team competing for trophies again. Finishing 5th will do nothing but prolong the wait - can we compete in the cups with 20-25 extra games?

Agree with some of that BDB and i don't see where the 'bottling it' comes from either i think we'll stuff fulham but you say top 4 is so important, according to JD (and he still wont reply  ) we cant even compete with fulham for the signing of players and that after 16 years of constant champions league football. If that's true it does make you wonder what's the fucking point of the club craving the virtual trophy

must have missed it, what's the question? (*EDIT*found it now - reply coming)

I'd love us to have signed Berba (and Julio Cesar)
but they'll get more money at Fulham and QPR
its inevitable if we brought in £100k pw players, we'd have lots of others asking for raises

with the new TV money we could probably afford to pay more,
Wenger and the board have decided not to go down that road, so far

most on here predict theArsenal dropping points:

so if we do get an unexpected win - will you all be delighted?

So what is it ferguson wouldnt sell him or his wages were too much?

and QPR are paying top wages but Fulham out do us, really? :? what the fuck are we doing in the European Cup every year for if we can't even compete financially with them? :banghead:
I don't know the vaguaries of the deal, Wenger claims he didn't know Berbatov was available
I interpreted that as slurAlex wouldn't let him go to a rival

the policy in general does seem to be not to pay the big bucks with only Feo getting 6 figures PW

not actually sure what your question is...
what are we doing in the European Cup?
er, always getting out the groups, then getting narrowly knocked out I guess

Why havent the Fulham players demanded more money?

and answering your previous post as ive only just seen it. . . earlier you said ferguson wouldnt sell to us and then said we didnt buy because he was on too much, so which one do you think it was? Personally if it was part of the van judas deal ferguson couldnt NOT sell to us he obviously wanted RVJ IMO.

As ive said the holy grail of the top 4 is all the club really crave and if we can't compete with fulham on wages after all the cash rolling in we're fucked

To justify his 100k per week wages, wenger should have bought berbatov, got him on the training pitch, stood him next to theo and had players play balls into them at pace, I should imagine after 10 passes to each player eveyone present will realise who is worth the money 8)

Don't put giroud next to him otherwise he will be asking for 200k a week

Berbatov is a class act and how anyone can imagine why other players would knock wnegers door if we had bought him and payed him the reported wage i don't know.

We already pay one player 100k, are they all knocking arsenes door now? If they are why would it make any difference if we had 2 players on that :? Will they knock twice as hard on arsenes door

I would imagine more players getting miffed by theo getting paid that amount than they woud berbatov :rubchin:

Do they knock on arsenes door about park never playing a game and earning a fortune........could go on and on
