As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Pleased to hear you DO have some ambition about you regarding Arsenal What do you expect us to do to manage a title challenge then JD? Spend big? We've been told for the last 6 or 7 years that we're gonna spend big only to buy cheap foreign/french imposters. We'll get back into the Champions League this season and the board will rub their greedy hands together with the lifting of the virtual Trophy. Why is it going to change?
Its very possible that United will end of chance of finishing top 4 or at least seriously dent it. Best we can hope is that they chill out cause the League is won but I doubt that.
I hope we do give Utd a guard of honour, and I hope it hurts our players and management doing so as it is their performances and decisions that have made us so far behind Utd.
RvP knew we weren't good enough to win the league so he went somewhere where he could...can you blame him?
This has been discussed before to death so my prediction is a draw, low scoring , as we'll be nervous and they'll be hung over!!

Nice post flash says it all
Just think that until Wenger either changes - which I just don't see happening - or he departs - we is F*cked.
sad but true.
ps: I heard someone a Journo - say on the radio the other day - I don't want Wenger to Leave But I Do Want Him To Change....everyone knows he is set in his ways....IF he could/would change I think it would have happened by now.

With a few exceptions - jenks and Jack - I don't think it will Hurt the players as much as it hurts (and humiliates) us Gooners....selling our best striker to them was the last straw....and there have been many over the past 7 seasons.
The thing is whereas you and I will be here as Gooners long after they (players and manager have departed) and have to live with the memories of such times...they will all be on happy hols time somewhere - with the proceeds of their £7 mill etc per annum to soothe their hurts
Just saw rvp's 2nd gaol against Villa - has to be Goal of the Season. And with him in that kind of mood & form....I just do not see him NOT scoring against us.
We need the points if we are to get the virtual trophy...But, having said that we have been getting humiliated - because of wenger and the board and thee shyte signings for 7 seasons now...so maybe if manure turn us over and we Do Miss Out on the V. trophy this season...will it be enough to wake the board from their slumbers and dreams of yet more Kerchinggg! Wonga - all paid for by Gooners.... I just do not see a way out of this turgid groundhog day/season situation that we are in...a rut deeper than the grand canyon
rvp will not play against us - it will be a combination of him not wanting to rub salt into the wounds and ferguscum wanting to protect his player from a ton of abuse

What a dry sense of humour you have today augie.
They're both going to be wetting themselves at the prospect of humiliating WENGER, abuse or not.

This is a new one...
It think under Fiszman, Wenger was given a budget by the board and then ran everything.
Wenger still gets tha budget, but now when it comes to the big money decisions with letting players go, such as Nasri and Van Persie, Kroenke gets involved.
The first partial erosion of Wenger's power that he has accumulated since we moved stadium.
Don't think that's the big issue here Quartz. Just about everyone agrees that we were paid handsomely for the mercenary Nasri and despite what people say keeping van Judas at the club after his petty statement outburst just wasn't really viable. And I have no doubt Wenger would have supported selling both.
The issue is the fact that these situations even arise.
!!!
My issue wasn't so much him going, it was the fact that he stayed in the PL and went to THEM!
Yeah we should never have sold him to United, of course. But does anybody think that the board would have accepted say £15m from Juventus as opposed to £24m from United? Everything has its price and we're hardly strangers to selling players to English 'rivals' (loosely using that term) - the board would have just seen it as £8-10m down the drain by taking a cheaper fee from elsewhere. I think it's difficult to argue that selling him (to United) was over Wenger's head when it's become public that Ferguson spoke to him on the phone on numerous occasions to broker a deal.
As I said the real problem is that we were all too happy to let our last world-class player leave rather than show ambition. But once he signalled to Wenger and Gazidis before the Euros that he wanted to leave, they should have responded by telling him they would never sell to United and he was going to have to find a continental suitor willing to pay a big fee if he was going to leave. Still not ideal by any means but would have made him re-evaluate the situation and almost certainly act differently. As it was, we buried our heads in the sand and pretended everything was fine to the fans for months, he eventually pounced on our weakness like a huge *word censored* and released his statement and we did exactly the last thing we should have - sold him to United.

I think people would have had less of a problem with us selling him to Utd if fucking Giroud wasn't his replacement. It should have been Lewandowski, Cavani, Falcao, someone of that calibre...

This thought crossed my mind too. I guess we'll find out how serious Ferguson is about chasing the points record.

Agree with you , but if Arsenal had the ambition to sign players of that quality maybe Van Persie would have stayed.
