Because Juup Heynckes is retiring at season's end.
He's being retired against his wishes because they want Guardiola...
This is what I heard, he is being put in a home and he doesn't want to go. Who knew that the kids could be so cruel???

A life of bowls and afternoon biscuits for heckynes.

Much as I have admired Barca's possession style over the past few years, there have been times over this period when I felt they've over-passed the ball and often wished they had attempted even more shots at goal when the opportunities arose. Watching this match I had a thought early in the second half that despite having much less possession of the ball, I much preferred the style in which Bayern played, with good defending, robust closing down of the the opponents when in a threatening area, good use of set-pieces and sharp counter-attacks. Made me all nostalgic for how we once used to play.  :banghead: :banghead:

The system is not the problem. The players are. They pass around without doing too much because the players are not good enough. Messi is so good he can beat teams on his own but if they are up against a team like Bayern one player is not enough. Iniesta is great obviously but the attack - Pedro and Sanchez - isn't dangerous enough. Of course they need to improve the defense aswell but for me the main problem is the attack. If you're up against eto, messi and henry you just can't attack that much so improving the attack would help the whole team.

Where's that Knee Jerk Reaction bloke to tell us Barcelona are Arsenal-lite and stats suggest we'd beat them 6-0??

They came up against a team of monsters who barely set a foot wrong all night. Hardly gave the ball away in attacking areas, moved it with pace and were tighter then a nats arsehole. Oh and their main source of goals wasn't fit.

Watching munich last night reminded me of the invincibles

Even though I will never forgive Bayern for rolling over against the chavs a year ago, I must admit I gleefully watched as they tore Barca a new one.
And just to make it more enjoyable two dodgy goals as well....... that's what you call karma.

Looks like the luckiest manager in European football, Guardiola, will step into another ready made team, where only an idiot of Wenger's stature could fuck it up.

Two summers ago, two fcuking summers ago I touted this guy as a player we should be buying as our lynchpin in the defensive midfield position 8) I was after watching the guy captaining Spain u-21s to European championship success and he seemed to dominate the position without even breaking sweat. At that time he hadn't broke into the full Spanish team and wouldn't have cost a fortune but of course "mr I have worked 30 years in football" preferred to stick with song who is the most uselessc.unt ever to play the DM position for our club  :banghead:   :cussing: :cussing:

On a side issue I am probably the only one disappointed that barca lost last night - yes they have more than their fair share of cuts but they also have messi, xavi and ineista who are beyond reproach plus cesc will always be a favourite of mine 8) The thing is though, that the chavs showed last season how to beat barca - force them to play down the wings cos a team with no proper centre forward rarely has anybody to cross the ball to
The farce that was bayerns 3rd goal again raises the issue of wtf the c.unt standing beside the goals with a linesmans flag is meant to be doing - if neither him nor the ref could see a blatant obstruction then both should be shot but especially the knob standing there with the flag

For me barca are at a real crossroads this summer - it's doubtful that vilanova will stay on imo considering the health issues and you have to wonder if the empire is beginning to fall apart. What manager could they get in to replace him ? Doubtful that they can promote from within again cos they need to be given a pr lift imo and there are very few managers out there capable of meeting their needs especially if citeeh, the chavs and Madrid are all looking for new managers

To be fair, I don't think his club wanted to sell him 2 years ago and it took an offer of over £30m for Bayern to eventually get him. Song or no Song, there's no way Wenger was ever going to pay that for the player.

Me too, and although surprised with how bad Barca were made to look, I can't say I was 'disappointed' too much. Indeed, it was actually nice for a change to watch a match and not particularly being too concerned who won and how it could affect us.

Stand by that too - I have claimed since start of season that himself and either tv5 or kos would be the best partnership as the balance is better and I think that has been proven 8) Granted he turns slower than an oil tanker and is not physical enough for a big man (that really has disappointed me tbh) but he reads the game much better than the other two fools - personally mert and sagna would be my first choice centre back pairing 8)

Pep inheriting a team of all stars who also just grabbed Goetze and have a 100m+ transfer budget in the summer. Must be a tough job.
