CL Semi's

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I for one am glad we probably won't have to deal with the hype around what would be DiveFest 2013.

I'm not so sure there, NB.
I suspect that people are actually bored of the two team monopoly of la Liga, and I think that the Germans have rejuvenated interest of the CL by the scorelines alone.

I just wish that we were still the contenders, because there was a time, not so long ago, that Arsenal were everyone's under-dog in this compy.
I would rather see an all-German final than an all-Spanish final and that's the view of most football fans here, but in reality English football fans are likely to watch the game whoever is playing. The match that will make them most money and get the most coverage would be Real v Barca indisputably.

Agree with TL.

If it is to be an all German final:
A Barcelona vs Real Madrid would have attracted attention for obvious reasons, a Champions League final by it's very sense of occasion is a big game.
Bayern Munich are one of the big European teams, and a game against one of their domestic rivals, in their manager's last game for Bayern, with Guardiola scheduled to take over, and Goetze playing his last game for Dortmund against his next club, are interesting storylines.

I think worldwide fans are quite keen to be up on the latest developments in the game as a whole, so will be well aware of the good players both teams have.
Wide television and newspaper coverage of the tournament ensures that it is hard to go unnoticed once the knock out stages begin.

There is a new generation of fans every few years, and who is to say that this next one will not be into German football as the recent one is into our game and the Spanish game?

Yeah NB.
Sometimes my thoughts don't get articulated correctly on this damn keyboard.
I was trying to make the point that, a non Spanish team in the final SHOULD be more appealing. Less cheating and appealing. I am very happy that there this might be the scenario.
I remember going to Wembley for Sampdoria v Barcawhores. Biggest load of shite I ever paid to watch.

This morning, Mourinho was woken up by his wife: "Come on Jose, get up, it's five".
Jose: "Lewandowski again?"

Just saw the goals from yesterday - Lewandowski's third and the way he took his penalty shows the kind of mindset and belief he has. Shit hot.

Don't forget Bayern are 20 points ahead of Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Obviously Klopp would be a light years improvement on the turnip (who wouldn't FFS) but maybe he's not quite the messiah the press seem to be making him out to be. Don't forget the goal that got them into the semi in the first place was about 5 yards offside. Tiny measures.

Also incredible to think that Bayern have only won 1 European Cup in the last 30 years.

It is a different competition. If we both go to Wembley we will rip their asses of like the 5:2 in Berlin for the cup final and €ötze will score 3 goals, mark my words

How about when we looked ordinary against them and were dumped out in 2005?!

Unreal.
This Klopp fella actually does what AKBs claim nobody can do better than Wenger the imposter. Taking cheap young/unknown players, getting them working hard, teaching them how to play fast, attacking football & actually making it work, winning trophies. Real ones, not virtual ones.

Has to be the next Arsenal manager for me.
He's the best manager in the world. I'd give my left nut to have him manage us.
 :rubchin: :rubchin:

Why not lob it off and send it to him in the post with an invite card...see if he's interested? :D

Yah. His penalty should have killed any hopes of coming back in terms of ruthlessness. Judas used to belt like that for us.
