somewhere around 1987 we sailed right past spurs and i don,t want to go back to the days of 2 bald men fighting over a comb.
Cue nausea-inducing image of Ralph Coates...

Or Terry Mancini ?

I think Spuds may finish ahead of Chelski
They may do, but I'm only refering to us finishing ahead of the scum. I just don't give a flying fuck about 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th or the poxy bloated shit CL either tbh. If we aren't winning the PL then I only care about finishing ahead of the vermin. 8)

Not aiming this at you JD, but anyone that thinks that's somehow a small club mentality, or whatever the fuck, obviously didn't support Arsenal during the 70's and 80's.
In some ways that might be the (im)perfect solution:

a) We are out of the CL and so wenker gets loads of stick and more pressure for him to leave asap

b) Gooners (regardless) of our not being a top four/five team anymore - which is what we are(n't)...BUT we still have Bragging Rights over the scum. QED. :high5:

I have just tried the BBC predictor again, But I don't like the result......

Man Utd-90
Man Cty-81
Scum -72
Chavs -71
Arsenal-68

Relegated.

Villa -39
QPR -26
Reading-25

I would like to point out though...... I am shit at predicting anything! :barscarf:

Hope so! :barscarf:

It takes a special manager to halt all momentum by taking off the player driving you forward for an unfit player 8) Wilshere for Rosicky today, and Arshavin for Chamberlain last season at home vs. the mancs  Genius! :barscarf:

I think we will scrape 4 by a single point over the spuds, based on them drawing with stoke and losing to the chavs, with us hopefully beating QPR and wigan then losing on the final day. Even spuds - chavs draw would see us make it on goal difference.

Cant make up my mind which of the other two cuntish teams will make it into the top 4 but we will def get in based on the screw ups from them
Btw souness, as much as I usually enjoy listening to your punditry I have to say that yesterday you didnt half talk some bollox - he is yet another one proclaiming that a top 4 finish would be wenger's greatest achievement given the shit players he has to work with (slightly paraphrasing there  ) without acknowledging that it was wenker himself that accumulated the pile of shite that now represents our club  :banghead: :banghead:

It's a bizarre situation Augie because Wenger has lowered our standards and expectations, and loads of people are happy to judge him based on those standards. Which if you do, he isn't doing a bad job. Other managers would kill to be able to set their own modest benchmark to be judged against.

The most infuriating argument I often encounter when explaining this to people is that, "It was AW who set those standards in the first place, he's simply a victim of his own success". To that, I say bollocks. AFC has been accumulating trophies for over a century before that cancer took over. Back to the old, "Arsenal wasn't formed in 1996" line that we use as a joke, but yet some people still genuinely have this attitude.

Not quite a century (60 odd years) but I see what you mean.

Although many clubs could be accused of not showing enough loyalty to successful managers, I think people overplay the argument that "well we were in so-and-so position when he took over and we're still doing better so of course he shouldn't be sacked". Although Adkins' sacking was harsh (although they would argue vindicated), should they have waited until they were back in League One to sack him if things were going dreadfully? Would that have been best for the club? Equally, I find it ridiculous when people suggest Wenger shouldn't be sacked so long as we are in a better position than when he took over.

As much as Wenger may have arguably been a victim of his own success a couple of years ago (being judged against such high standards) he has since then been a champion of his own failures (being judged against years of relative mediocrity).

Inherited a team with quality players like the legendary back 4, the great Bergkamp and the prolific Ian wright all of whom had won both domestic and European medals but he has now accumulated a squad where our best players are a 31 year old midfielder that has never been capped for his country (arteta), a 20 year old that has yet to prove he is physically able to survive at this level (wilshere) and a playmaker that has yet to show that he can deliver in the big games when needed (santi)........explain how we are In a better position than when he took over

I'm not saying I think we necessarily are. Just that, largely due to the bloated beast that is the CL and fans for some reason starting to care about profits beyond what they can do for the playing squad, many people hold the perception that we're in a much better position than we were then.
