I feel sorry for Dortmund
I really do.
They look certain to lose Goetze, Lewandowski and Hummells in the summer. They lost Sahin a few seasons ago. It obviously reminds me of us. Dortmund look victims of their own success. It wont be long untill their best players will be lost to money cheats.

Well they will lose Lewa and have lost Goetze but I'm not too sure if they'll really lose Hummels too.
But I think they will reinvest the money. Strong rumours they try to get de Bruyne and Eriksen and another striker. I'm not too surprised they lose some top players right now but if they can manage to stay at the subtop this might change over the next 5 years or so when they have enough money to pay top wages themselves and have shown to the players that they won't be gone in 2 years.

This carp has always happened and will always happen. Don't think there's anything you can do about it.spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:I really do.

Villa are a classic example. 4 of their best players who nearly got champions league 4 seasons ago are now title ,League and FA cup winners in both manc teams and 'Pool, whilst they struggle with relegation.
We don't fit in that mold as we are just too tight and greedy to properly invest or refuse to sell our best players to rich vultures.

Re: I feel sorry for Dortmund
Reus and Gundogan are two other class players at Dortmund, who i am sure will move to pastures new as well
Re: I feel sorry for Dortmund
Reus has only been there for one season, I don't seem him going anywhere just yet. Likewise Gundogan.
The difference between them & us is that I fully expect they'll reinvest most, if not all, of the money they get for Goetze & Lewandowski. Not to mention they're a more attractive proposition for top players than us at the moment; on the verge of a CL final, Bundesliga winners in two out of the last 3 seasons, DFB Pokal winners, a top young manager.
I'm sure they won't be scrapping with us for the signature of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, put it like that...

kagawa too
Re: I feel sorry for Dortmund
Well, if they win the CL, which I hope they do, I will feel less sorry for them.
They probably feel sorry for us. I do.

Re: I feel sorry for Dortmund
Them like us cant compete with the money clubs, wont be long before we can though. Up the Arsenal, roll on tomorrow when we smash the mancs.
Re: I feel sorry for Dortmund
We lost world class players without even winning any trophies to compensate. At least they won their league title twice and the cup once, and are very likely heading for the Champions League final.
I'd feel more sorry for us.

Re: I feel sorry for Dortmund
at least Dortmund are successful,we however are just a pile of plop slowly heading backwards,we are no longer feared in europe or even in the prem league,we are just ridiculed, cue the mancs today to hammer us at every opportunity

Re: I feel sorry for Dortmund
Only feel sorry for Dortmund if Jurgen Klopp leaves and Wenger takes over when we sack him in 2020

Re: I feel sorry for Dortmund
In fairness we won our league a few times, won some cups, reached a champions league final then our best players left and THEN we started to become plop. They're just at a different stage of the cycle1989 wrote:We lost world class players without even winning any trophies to compensate. Well it is all part of this modern circus called professionell football fantasy
...
As long as we don't get bancrupt again like 2005 we are ok, invest some of the money in good solid quality players (no super quality
) and also in some talents...
Would be great if there is a real FFP but I fear it will not be...
Cheers from Germany,
Thomas

It won't be too long before you have your assets stripped by Bayern, United and co. and lose your edge. Klopp will move on as well. It's guaranteed.
Goetze has thrown you to the wolves by moving to Bayern so early in his career. Such betrayal by a boy who joined you at 8 years old. He could have stayed a few years longer or moved abroad... but signing for Bayern at 20yrs of age? that's sickening and I'm not even a Dortmund fan!

Good luck in the Champions League this year. I hope you win it.
