Did anybody see about the comedian the PFA hired for yesterday's awards? Apparently he's notorious for using the n-word generously during his act. Sure enough last night he opened up with a joke about Suarez and then used the n-word 15-20 times. At the PFA dinner. You couldn't make it up.

He is a black American and likes to shock. I saw him last year and must admit even I felt a bit uncomfortable about some of his set, mainly though cos he was trying to see how many *word censored* he could get away with to an audience in Surrey.

They could have booked any comedian at all. Why choose one who is going to make those sorts of jokes when Suarez and Terry's cases have been splashed across the papers for months on end this season?

To be honest Herd, I know quite a lot of Irish people having grown up in North West London, and they are no more racist than anyone else, probably less racist.
A lot of mixed race people from London have a West Indian parent and an Irish one.

We shag all races, we never discriminate on the grounds of creed or colour

Sounds like they're regretting it quite a bit..

Just a downright embarrassing choice. Personally if you want a "black American comedian" I would suggest Kevin Hart, I think he's very funny :D

Have only seen Hunter once, on tv, and thought he was not very funny.

If they wanted someone funny and African-American, then why not Dave Chapelle, Chris Rock, Charlie Murphy etc?

He was very funny when I saw him last year. Just got a bit uncomfortable with the *word censored* thing at the end. He's always made jokes about niggas though.

Not seen Lethal Weapon movies but saw Chris Rock live, was greatest live comedy performance I have ever seen...immaculate timing.

Seems to be an African-American cultural thing to have adopted the n word as a badge of honour (for want of a better term) when used between people of that race. I guess none of the bright sparks at the PFA considered what they might be getting from a black american comedian.

Look, for me words are all about context - no word on its own without any context is ever going to offend me and if it did I would have to consider myself a bit of a moron. The word, as far as I can gather, was not used in any kind of derogatory way so while I can understand why all the PC empty suits at the PFA are hand-wringing I really don't see where the angle is for outrage among normal right-minded people.
