As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Blatter was a worthy successor to Havelange. The circumstances surrounding Mexico getting the rights to host the 1986 World Cup were dodgy to say the least.
Lads, sorry - just a quick reminder. So far we are ok (ish ) but if you post any specific allegations about any named person, please also post the proof. Let's just be careful what we post on this thread. You never know if the dirty corrupt crooked cúnts have someone trawling the interweb for this type of stuff.

You mean Blatta is not a *word censored* but only (allegedly) a *word censored*
We wined and dined the right peoples. We sent them luxurious gifts, we gave them a evening basking in the beckham's engrossing company, and yet are we are told this was not enough.
Maybe we misread the bidding process, maybe we should have gone further!
but then as the saying goes, It is better to have 'bidded' and to have lost than to have never bid at all.
I'm sure next time we will send them 'King William' specially baked in a giant chocolate gateau which will seal the deal.
Process was rigged from the off - England had no hope.
Real shame was that nobody at the FA/bid team had the balls to blow the whistle on the corruption - there are very few opportunities to put FIFA under real scrutiny that they can't slime away from but bringing the World Cup venue selection process to a shuddering halt would have been one.
Instead, when they start throwing round allegations afterwards it's easy to brush off as sour grapes. England really missed the boat there.
