if both those happened, us 5th, wenger signing an extension this summer.

what i'd want to do is barrack him vocally ev single game 2013/14 - but how many would stand with me on this?

I get what your point is but I'm sure Wenger would walk if we finished outside the top 6. Certainly if we did two seasons running he would. But we will never finish that low under Wenger and in a perverse way that is part of the problem.

An increasing number of fans have realised that we are stuck in a loop where that things will never again be good enough for us to want Wenger to stay ... but at the same time they never get bad enough for him and others to have to accept he has to go.

And so we suffer this repetitive existence. It's living life in the same room everyday and being given the same meal to eat at exactly the same time while watching the same TV shows ... then being told to be grateful that you are alive and healthy as there are many others who are worse off that would gladly swap places.

Enough to drive anyone insane :banghead:

If we finished outside the top six for ONE single season he should walk such is the massive advantage he has over the likes of Everton, West Brom or any of the other nearly men. After the weekend's results he is now guaranteed at least 5th and that alone will make him stay. A decent run in next season's Europa and a scraped 4th place and return to the CL would persuade him that we are succeeding and he would stay for at least another 2 years, possibly more.

If he does finish below Tottenham it will be a monumental fuck up of the highest order given that he also has a massive advantage over them......£50m to be precise. We should be streets ahead of them, and before anyone makes the comparison, so too should Chelsea who should hang their fucking heads in shame that with two weeks to go they still haven't made 100% certain of CL football for next season. The difference with the Chavs of course is that they take the cups seriously and if Wenger did this he would afford himself a lot more time and patience from the fans. Even when the Chavs collapse in the league as they have since 2010 they always have a domestic or European cup to fall back on

I agree with all that.

You’re right about Chelsea. Something Gary Neville said the other day (when actually talking about Man City) was that if you are not gonna win the league then win one of the cups as it keeps the momentum going. This is what Chelsea have been doing and what Arsenal should certainly have been doing for the last few seasons

Taking the cups seriously thing is a key thing for me and it really pisses me off that we have scarified them the way we have for so many years. What a waste and for waht? What is the benefit of doing what we do?

I know some people have defended Wenger this season by saying he picked his strongest side for the cups. But even though it was his strongest side at Bradford it was one that displayed such complacency that it was obvious that they were not taking the completion any more seriously than before. To repeat that weeks later at home to Blackburn is beyond belief.

We should have an FA cup final coming up this Saturday. All that would have stood in our way as the draw turned out was Swansea, Brighton, Blackburn, Millwall and Wigan. Not to mention the other cup where beating Bradford would have set up a two leg semi against Villa and a final against Swansea.

Leading up to the Blackburn game the team had a bit of form and momentum winning 4 of the previous 5 matches (the other being a comeback from 2 goals down to draw with the Mickeys). The forward line was bedding down and Wenger chose to start with the Forehead and left out Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott and Podolski (who had been inspired in the 5-1 drubbing of West Ham). As you say....for what? To rest them for the visit of Bayern, who proceeded to settle the two legged tie within 20 odd minutes (no matter what anyone says about the so called second leg heroics)

Its so predictable too. I called it on here weeks before it happened just by looking at the calendar, when I saw the 5th round of the cup came a few days before the CL round of 16. That is how the calendar works and that is why we'll never win a trophy under Wenger because even when we're blessed with a decent draw he will send a strong message to the players that 'the cups really don't matter' by playing second string squad players. If Santi, Jack, Theo and Pod had managed to get us 2 goals ahead the tie would have been dead against Blackburn and if any had the chance Forehead squandered at half time, we would have been 1 up. FFS, he could have taken 3 of them off after an hour or so if he wanted to.

The same thing goes for the League Cup........the quarter finals come shortly after CL Group stage completion, the semi finals in the midst of what is usually a very full period in January (two FA Cup rounds, holiday fixtures etc) and the final is usually a week or so away from CL football again.

Wenger sacrifices the cups because the owner is hellbent on top four at all costs, and I can't see that changing. If we finish 5th this season it won't be any different next year either because the pressure for top 4 will be even more intense and I can see Wenger fielding an U-21 side in both the Europa and League Cups, and squad players in the FA Cup.

So the question is........what is the point anymore? The club supposedly craves two trophies but don't even come close to spending the money required to even remotely challenge, but then don't take the opportunity to compete properly in the remaining competitions

Agreed, it's a very muddled approach.

Wenger seems caught between two stools, but the nuts thing is that it needn't be like that; would it really have killed the manager/players to take Blackburn seriously? - the path to the FA Cup final was piss easy and we failed due to arrogance, and that annoys me so much. :x we've won fuck all for 8 years but still can't raise ourselves for the domestic cups... :? - for that reason alone, I'd like Wenger to step down.

When you say 'extension', do you mean his penis or Steve's new conservatory specially built in readiness for the BBQ in case it rains ? :?

I hate everything about Wenger, even the way he talks....here's what he said about Chezzas late save from Remy in the QPR game.......

"When I saw him dive I thought he would not get there, but he extended his final resource very well and he got there."

Tw@t is the word I think I am looking for......well it's not but it's the one that I am allowed to get away with!! (I think) 8)

I'm thinking of extending my final resource tonight as well.........now where's that link to xhamster?..... :barscarf:
