Ticket Transfer
What do you think?

Arsenal Football Club is introducing an improvement to its ticketing services for the 2013/14 season, to ensure as many supporters as possible have the opportunity to attend matches at Emirates Stadium.
With games continuously sold out at the Gunners' home, work has been ongoing to develop a Ticket Transfer facility which allows Gold level members (season-ticket holders) who are unable to attend a match to give their ticket to a family member or friend.
Ticket Transfer is designed to make it easier for fans to give their tickets to selected contacts. Supporters can set up lists of family and friends and pass the ticket to them at the press of a button. The recipient will simply print a coupon at home which will provide access to the stadium.
Ivan Gazidis, Arsenal chief executive, said: "Ultimately we all want as many supporters as possible to fill Emirates Stadium for our home matches. We want members with season tickets to use them and really help us create the atmosphere that gives our team an edge at Emirates Stadium.
"We have made considerable progress this season with 23,000 tickets available through our Ticket Exchange system and we are confident this new development will make a further impact.
"Ticket Transfer is a significant development. We recognise many fans hand tickets to friends and family when they can’t go and this helps them do it safely and securely. This gives people the chance to pass tickets onto friends and family without fearing they are breaking the terms and conditions of their ticket.”
Renewals for Arsenal membership are now open for the 2013/14 season, for further information on memberships and the Ticket Exchange and Transfer schemes, supporters can visit www.arsenal.com/alwaysaheadofthegame.
*When using Ticket Transfer, the season ticket owner's card will be deactivated for the designated match. Tickets can only be transferred once per fixture, and a small administration charge will apply.

"and a small administration charge will apply"
Forgive me for being a cynic but is this just another chance for the club to get more money from the fans? At the moment the fees for using the exchange is 10%. Will the fee still be the same? They say that 23,000 people used the exchange last year which at about £5 a pop is £115,000. But how many people hand over their ticket to a friend or family member each season? Sounds like a right money maker.

Re: Ticket Transfer
Reads to me like the club have finally accepted that there has been a noticable drop off in regular attendance.

Re: Ticket Transfer
Although at one time I would never have considered not attending any game, such is my contempt for the club at the moment, there have been several times where I have just given my ticket to someone else as I couldn't be bothered.
And guess what? Its free. I just hand it over and at some point after the game they hand it back. No coupons, no admin charges, nothing!
If this is not permitted by the club then I will expect to be told in writing. To date, I have had no such thing.

Re: Ticket Transfer
My tickets are both in my name so its farking obvious that I give the other one away .
Re: Ticket Transfer
Me being another one of those cynics (or are we just realists), it is crystal clear that the club club do not give a shit about the support and only pay us lip service. They will look at every possible revenue stream and try to maximise it. Hence, they know that supporters share ST now, or pass them on to family or friends. By coming up with some cock and ball about making it easier to pass tickets on, there are people out there who will actually think the club are helping them out.cardinal2011 wrote:"and a small administration charge will apply"

If i want to give my ticket to family or friends i can do so by just handing it over at NO COST and them bringing it back to me at NO COST!
However, don't be surprised if they now turn round and say that giving tickets to others is not allowed and has to be done via there new scheme. Photo id on ST the next step?? Just wait and see.

And when this happens ...and it will....lets see how close to the magical 60,000+ attendances we getSPARKSY wrote:However, don't be surprised if they now turn round and say that giving tickets to others is not allowed and has to be done via there new scheme. I suspect you’re right about their intentions on this though and it won’t be long before photo IDs or eyeball recognition technology are implemented so the club can squeeze a few more quid out of us.
Eventually this will be followed by them fitting us with microchips. Meaning they can then track our every move, find out our IP addresses and spy on us ... seeing everything that we’re saying about them on the internet. Its all building towards the coming New World Order and the emergence of the anti-Christ in the book of Revelation. Although even the anti-Christ will have his work cut out removing Lord Wenger from his position of power … that's assuming they are different entities in the first place!

Re: Ticket Transfer
I'd been worrying so much when I handed over my ticket to friends and relatives. Would they got stopped at the turnstiles by a customer engagement officer or would their ticket be checked at half-time when they started to munch on a Ginsters instead of a PLC foodstyle offering (F-off as its known in the States) ? So this comes as a great comfort at a time when I am having serious thoughts about giving up my ticket altogether.
You know, I went to Hemel Hempstead on Monday. Play-off final against Gosport Borough in the Southern Premier. Paid £10 to get in plus fuel to get there. Beer and chips on demand. Access all areas. Standing only unless you're old. Plastic bottles, bananas and beachballs thrown on the pitch and just a couple of plod in sight. 2,500 people there (ok some out just for the sun) for a Hemel attendance record and 3 hours of great entertainment until Gosport edged home on penalties. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to attend a real match but this reminded me.
Now, what to say to Ashburton PLC ? "Dear Sirs, Forgive the forthright nature of this letter but I'd like to explain in terms capable of being understood even by marketing people why you can stick your season ticket up your Arsenal....."
I shall be at the Wigan game to wish them all well as I head off to a life watching my football on a terrace that's seen better days.

Re: Ticket Transfer
What I don't understand is why don't the FA just put a cap on ticket prices, set it low and in relativity to the position tehy finish in, and then sell the premier league TV rights for a fortune?
One of the concerns with TV is that it reduces attendances but if it's really low, like £5 for Wigan, people will always attend the games and besides don't clubs make more in TV money?

Re: Ticket Transfer
Have to say that it sounds like a good idea to me... Four times last season I let mates in London use my tickets, and it was a pain the arse getting the tickets to them and back. The Norwich game for instance was on a Saturday and we had to have the ticket back for Everton on the following Tuesday. It's be happy to pay £1 a ticket to give them the chance to just print the tickets at home.
It will also surely be a boon for people on here, being able to sell on tickets without (presumably) having to wait for a game to sell out and without having to send them your membership card....

Why do that when they can sell the TV rights for a fortune AND milk the fans for a fortune?spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:What I don't understand is why don't the FA just put a cap on ticket prices, set it low and in relativity to the position tehy finish in, and then sell the premier league TV rights for a fortune?

Re: Ticket Transfer
Makes club money through admin fee.
Might make club money through more supporters at games buying food, drink and merchandise.
As MK Gould says, easier than chasing friends to get back your season ticket.
Wonder if the club will accept a digital copy of the ticket shown to them at the turnstile on a phone or ipad, with a bar code that can get scanned?
Not sure how it fits in to anti-touting measures, the club might have an angle but if so I cannot work it out.
Perhaps if the person accepting the printed ticket has to have their name on it and show id to get in, that might stop some touts?

Re: Ticket Transfer
Far too finicky for Recipe for disaster with your card being activated and de-activated , I can see loads of people getting locked out because of some computer failure .
Its happened before !

Re: Ticket Transfer
I don't know whether you deliberately left out the last sentence of the 3rd paragraph but I have corrected it above with what it says on the website. It makes a massive difference to my view of this scheme. You can only transfer once the game is sold out. So if you want to let a friend sit in your seat you are probably going to have to make arrangements to hand over your season ticket anyway. if you do that and then in the week before the game it sells out, you decide whther to pay the 5 quid (which is what it'll be) or stick to your ST handover plan.Basil is a Gooner wrote:What do you think?

Okay it's a step in the right direction but still a long way to go.
