Puma to make our kits

Hi,
you've got a great deal!
Borussia has got £43m for 8 years = £5,35m per year
http://www.welt.de/sport/fussball/bunde ... -Euro.html
you have got £170m for 5 years = £34m per year
that is 75% more money overall  :!:
why the hell is that :rubchin: :?:

Never mind

Cheers,
Thomas

credit where credit's due, IMO that's good negotiating by our overpaid marketingmonkeys

And that kind of thing will work once but won't work a second time so continue to be failures and we will take a huge financial hit in 5 years time

Btw did I not read sometime ago that liver pools owners also own or part own warrior sportswear hence the inflated deal they done ? Maybe I am wrong on that but thought I heard or read it :?
It may only work once with the same manufacturer but not generally. As long as demand exceeds supply (i.e. more manufacturers looking to enter the lucrative market than there are highly-marketable football clubs) then there will always be somebody else willing to pay far more than an already-established brand.

Puma may not want to pay well above other manufacturers in 5 years time but you can bet that if we're in the same position then someone else will be willing to.

The building blocks are there for a good future, deals such as these are much needed revenue.

Now if only we could get a manager and board who will spend it...

I always liked Puma gear, I am still more than happy with this association, better than "soccertainment" rags anyhow 8)

Unlike the good old days when all people cared about was "brand prestige"

The Champions League finalists (and arguably the second best team in the world at the moment) are sponsored by Puma.

Puma Kit Deal: Examined

Post by Barriecuda »

CanadianGunners.ca wrote:...

We previously wrote about Adidas rumoured interest in supplying Arsenal kits and how such an agreement would be a ‘win-win’ for both parties. Well, this deal is no different; (article continues)

BVB’s success in the [UCL] this year might have convinced Puma of the value in having a premiere team (deep) in the tournament, leading to a bid that apparently blew away Adidas and any other potential suitors in Arsenal’s bidding war. BVB will be back with Puma in the UCL next season of course, but there are questions being raised about their ability to continue to compete (and qualify subsequently) after the losses of Goetze (confirmed) and Lewandowski (expected) this summer. (article continues)

But this is all for naught if the money from this sponsorship, along with the new Emirates deal agreed in Novemeber 2012, doesn’t bring significant re-investment to the club. Although the deal doesn’t kick in until the 2014 season, AFC needs to break it’s 15m transfer record (no longer a credible sum in the modern market) and bring in some difference makers ASAP. Otherwise, we’re just going to be a bunch of well-dressed fans… with nothing to celebrate.

I'm very happy to see Puma do our kit. When I was first picked for the Junior school team my Dad bought me a pair of Puma boots, which I cleaned and dubbined (for those under 40 ask your Dad) after every match. I'd previously had plasticy Woolworths type so, with my Arsenal shirt and Geordie Armstrong's No 7 on the back I felt proud enough to burst.
I later had some of those Alan Ball, white, circular studded boots that were guaranteed to break your ankle, so no boots have ever superceded the Pumas in my affection.
Much preferable to Nike or the 'pretend' brands that pop up to supply football clubs.

Only had a quick glimpse but how long is this deal for ? It says that it is a deal worth £170m but worth in excess of £30m per season - are we to deduce that it is a 5 year deal worth £34m per season but if so why wouldn't they say that instead of saying that it is worth in excess of £30m per season ? :? Would it be because those figures are contingent on meeting targets like on pitch success for example ?

Have to laff at the comment about puma's link to Africa making them ideal for us......sums us up now as a club don't it ? :(
Agreed. I thought Addidas were the new supplier. Puma is cheap shit
