I personally haven't seen any ability to play left-mid at all Herd. He's slow, unfit and lazy wherever he plays, and going forward he seems to just run into blind alleys, lose the ball and then foul the defender.

Particularly given our formation I don't think we can afford to have him as part of our front 3.

Seemed to have fallen out of favour towards the end of the season (don't think he was injured) Is he set to become another one of Wenger's failed attempts at signing a defender who can become a regular fixture in the starting line up?

I've been fairly impressed with what I've seen from him tbf. By and large been very competent, picked up a few assists and bar a bit of a second-half roasting against QPR I don't recall him struggling really.

Gibbs/Monreal is the sort of healthy competition we should have in the squad. I think he could feel quite hard done by to get dropped having come in (surely on the expectancy of being on equal footing) and not really done much wrong. Before the last few games I think there was some sort of trend that Monreal was playing in all the away games but not so much at home :?

Rather like saying 'I am a total ladies man, they fall at my feet, apart from the knockbacks I got from Kathy Burke & Miranda Hart'.

To be fair if I'm slotting regularly I don't think I'd be too perturbed by that - probably a blessing if anything!

And although he did get skinned a couple of times that half I seem to remember Cazorla on the wing leaving him completely isolated and then as soon as he picked up the booking he was always going to struggle when left 1v1.
