Jovetic will become another member of our virtual forward line with Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo. Gomis is another reason why I wouldn't trust Wenger with £3.99, let alone £70m or £100m or whatever the mythical warchest is set to become.......Wenger will still not sign anyone over £20m, because the proven success formula of spending 10-15m on proven quality Gervinho and Giroud has served him so well
He is again started looking for French league players and 1 year left on their contract. I am thinking, that is what we can afford considering our wage/wenger mart/cost/income structure. £70m or £100m is just a mythical warchest. There is no way he is going to sign £25m player who needs another £40m salary to go with. Now, every league has at least one money city and Chelski. We are basically looking at the bottom of the supply chain. Our hope is, this time he gets it right buying from French league.
Raises an interesting point. Even if the quality (and value) is there are we in a better position than PSG (and maybe Monaco in the future) to nab the best players from Ligue 1?

Although saying that I wouldn't have thought they'd be too concerned to let Giroud/Gervinho slip through their fingers, might impact on the likes of Chelsea more who have won trophies based on a backbone of Ligue 1 signings.

There was a time when I was keen on Gomis, but the longer his career has gone on I am less keen on him.
I think he would not be as good as Giroud in our league, would be a 14 goals a season player at best if he played most games.
If we had a top level player such as Higuain as first choice, and Giroud as second choice, and Wenger wanted to add a third choice depth to the squad then go for him if he is cheap, but in our current situation I say leave alone.

Looks as if we will have Afobe, Akpom and Sanogo as "players with potential", we need to add to that with a world class striker.

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign highly-rated Holland and PSG star Van der Wiel, as Bacary Sagna’s long-term replacement.

If he is so highly rated why are PSG letting him go?

Could be paving the way for Sagna?

While it's great to have this 70m warchest (if it exists) I wonder how useful it will be, because this transfer window is unlike any other. I can't remember there being so many clubs with so much money all chasing the relatively few top class players.
Monaco, PSG, Barca, Madrid, Chelski, Citeh, Manure, Bayern plus some of the Italian clubs.
Plus, their spending will give Atletico, Porto, Dortmund big funds to buy replacements.

While I would still like to see us buy a world class striker, I wonder who we could get, given that Lewandovski, Falcao, Cavani, Hulk etc seem on the radars of those with a lot more money than us.

Given that all of the above mentioned players arrived at there present clubs a bit under the radar (like Benteke did), we may have to hope that AW can reverse the trend of recent years and unearth a diamond in the rough.

Or that Usmanov buys the club.

Couldnt agree with you more - skrtel is no maldini but he is a damn sight better than ashley fcuking williams  Williams is just another in the list of players that embarasses me the fact that we are linked with - years ago, false rumours or not, the papers wouldnt dream of associating us with 2nd rate shite like williams but now, cos of our recent history of cheap purchases, they link us with likes of him

Thomas Vermaelen hints at Arsenal stay despite ‘frustrating’ bench role.

‘The situation is completely new to me, but the situation is what it is,’ said Vermaelen.

‘It frustrates me and that is not pleasant, but I have stayed positive. I wasn’t negative at any point, because that wouldn’t have never helped me.

‘All you can do is make sure your ready when the manager needs you – I know my qualities.’

It is understood that Arsenal are not entertaining the idea of selling the 27-year-old, who was a £10million buy from Ajax in 2009.

Not a bad thing actually. Considering some of the shite on our books, he can only improve again......I hope.

Garde firm on Arsenal targets.

Lyon coach Remi Garde says that Arsenal targets Maxime Gonalons and Clement Grenier won't be sold this summer and are vital to his club if they are to progress next season.

These 2 posts are an indication of how the acceptance of mediocrity has now seeped down from the board/management to the supporters, via the players.
There is nothing that I seen from Williams to suggest he is world class, super quality, or even super dooper quality (trying to predict whatever this summers PR buzzword will be).
Skrtel? a defender who could not get a regular place in a team that finished a long way behind us.
With this so called mountain of cash to utilise its time we looked a bit higher, and not help other clubs off load their deadwood, we have enough of our own to worry about.

Arsenal eye move for Carlton Cole after West Ham give Gunners first option on hitman.

Carlton Cole could be set for a move across London this summer, after it was reported that Arsenal were given first option to buy the England international.

Arsene Wenger is keen to boost his attacking options, with Bordeaux marksman Marouane Chamakh, who is out of contract at the end of the season, thought to be the Frenchman's prime target.
