Mourinho for Monaco?
Mourinho for Monaco?
Looking at who they've signed Falco, and Carvalho being lined up could Jose take up the challenge there, rather than return to west London??? I was kinda hoping they'd tempt Wenger back.
Re: Mourinho for monaco
They have a crazy amount of money to spend. Wenger and spending? On big names? Big amounts? Maybe some Wenger would, but not Arsene... sadly though

Just announced Falcao.
Shudder to think what they must be paying having only been promoted from Ligue 2 last season to be attracting players like him.

Re: Mourinho for Monaco?
For those unaware, Monaco's status as a Tax Haven gives them incredible bargaining power.
I have only done a little reading on it, but my understanding is that for a player to get the same take-home pay at the end of the day, Monaco only has to pay about 30% of the bill relative to a team like Paris St Germain.
It's so advantageous that all the teams in Ligue 1 tried to prevent Monaco joining. Monaco had to pay a sum of 200m Euros in order to get in. However, that's basically bribe money and now they can free-wheel and spend whatever they like.
They're operating on a whole different set of rules, really. Another billionaire has bought a toy to play with and the rest of the world's game suffers for it.
Monaco income tax rate: 0%
Spain tax rate for 300k+ earners: 45-52%

Re: Mourinho for Monaco?
The appeal is sensible. Monaco boasts the world's highest GDP nominal per capita at $153,177,[4] GDP PPP per capita at $132,571,[4] and GNI per capita at $183,150.[29][30][31]. Disposable income = market for ticket sales. However, how many millionaires want to go watch a local football match?Perryashburtongroves wrote:Bit more info here:For those unaware, Monaco's status as a Tax Haven gives them incredible bargaining power.

We need to bring back De Gaulle
http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/2005/apr ... bituaries1Although a member of the UN, Monaco is not a sovereign state. Its bejewelled community lies under the protection of, and at the mercy of, France. Indeed, during the era of President Charles de Gaulle, for example, Monaco's mighty neighbour grew restive about the tax revenue being lost from its citizens living there and at one time surrounded Monaco with troops. De Gaulle also threatened to cut off Rainier's water supplies, which came from France, if Rainier opened the door to more tax avoidance. But in 1969 De Gaulle went, and the glitter persisted.

Re: Mourinho for Monaco?
So basically the FLP have told Monaco they can't play in Ligue 1 unless they relocate, and Monaco have ignored this with a judicial decision expected on June 20. Meanwhile they're spending like there's no tomorrow. What a fucking mess, and it will only get worse if the court happens to rule against Monaco and it's inevitably taken to the European Court of Justice and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
I'm not surprised the LFP look like they might have bottled it and demanded a huge one-off payment instead.
