SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

QPR, Arsenal snap for Julio Cesar

Arsenal goalkeeper looking for a safe custody for the next year and would have identified the former Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar, with the QPR relegated despite a positive season on a personal level. The Gunners would have made the decisive shot in the last hour, giving the Brazilian a two-year contract from 4 million per season: the yes is expected to hours.

"@samuelj29060: The Italian report insists Júlio César will be paid around £65k per week at #AFC"

I think this is perfect. Top class international goalkeeper with World Cup experience, Champions League winner and in his prime years as a goalkeeper. He'll offer the competition that Shezza needed for a while, while also getting to learn from him. At 33, he's not a long term threat to Shezza either in terms of being the number 1.

Cesar would be ideal - although I'm not really convinced about the reliability of the source.

It's a sorry state of affairs when I'm scared to post "Italian" and "source" in the same sentence for fear of Hlebby making a shit pun that then spirals out of control

But yeah I notice it's being championed by the same bloke who was spouting off that we'd made a firm offer for Jovetic, classic ITK wanker.

I don't know why I do it to myself either GG :(

It just really infuriates me how we go about our transfer business nowadays. Just one top drawer signing would lift the mood that we're in at the moment. It would give us some glimmer of hope that the manager and board were serious about challenging for trophies again.

The memory of the day DB10 signed for us will stay with me forever, I really couldn't believe it. I want some of that again
