And the most pointless, gutless job he could of gone for.

Great way to prove your ability in a new league... join the best - and easily the richest - team in it  Seriously, what's the point? and where's the challenge? :?

Smacks of glory hunting, trophy counting to me.

He went down in my estimation when he took that job having quit Barca. I thought the reason he left was because he wanted a new challenge? instead, he's taken an even easier option than the one at Barcelona. Anyone would succeed with Heynckes' brilliant team.

It's basically a cop out, and a fancy way of avoiding a real job. Boring.

Like being a student? :D

And to think you quoted one of QG's posts and proceeded to use "of" instead of "have" :cussing: :box:

Otherwise, good post.

I also think it's disgraceful the way Henckes has been treated, as it's quite obvious he had no intention of retiring. Credit to the bloke for being so professional though. He really deserves this treble even if his club doesn't

Oh, and I did notice I'd used 'of' instead of 'have', but even though it grated a little, I thought it was a bit excessive to go back and edit it, as only the most pedantic, smart arse would ever bring it up.... so well done you

  The clue's in the name :barscarf:

I seem to remember that this piece of grammar shit is one of QG's favourites. Don't know how or why the fuck I remember this shit! :? :banghead:

When did Pep sign, just a question because I thought he had signed a while ago when they hadn't won anything.

Obviously he knew he was taking over at a top team (he's hardly going to sign for a shit side) but he signed a while ago in the early stages of the cl.

So who do you all think he should go and manage.....Stoke  Now that's a challenge, right

Granted he wouldn't have known they were going to win the CL - but they already had the German league won and an extremely strong squad more than capable of winning the cup that they'd been runners-up in two of the previous three years. Add to that is their ability to bully the rest of the Bundesliga into submission by going out and cherry-picking the best players from anybody who looks capable of challenging them - and indeed have done by signing Gotze and seemingly Lewandowski.

At the end of the day the Bayern job was undoubtedly a highly attractive prospect - but like g88ner I think he went back on his statements when leaving Barca. In many ways Bayern job is even less challenging - at least there's one other team in Spain that they can't financially bully.

When Guardiola signed (in January, thanks Lefty :D ) Bayern may not have had a trophy in their hands, but only a fool would have bet against them securing the league as they were steamrolling their way to the title, so lets not pretend he was joining a club that were anything other than brilliant.

Also, with the team they had this season, it's not as if there's much work needed. They're arguably the best in the world anyway... something people have been saying all season. So I'm sure Pep was fully aware of how good they were, and didn't need their CL success to confirm it in his mind.

It's a very very easy job, as the hard work has already been done. It's akin to allowing Usain Bolt to run the the first 180m of the race, blow everyone away, then take over to cross the line and claim all the glory. I see why he's done it, but lets not pretend it's anything special... the only difficult part of the job is being able to keep count of how many trophies he'll undoubtedly win with Heynckes' great team.

And, of course, his job is made easier by their only rivals having their pockets picked of their major talent. Goetze has gone, and no doubt others will follow... possibly to Germany's only financial superpower, Bayern Munich. Surprise, surprise.

Maybe it's just me, but I just wish more top managers would stop managing their careers in such a defensive way. It's almost as if, once they've proven themselves as top managers, they're scared to ever take a risk again; carefully hand picking their future clubs to avoid the risk of failure, or hard work. It's boring and predictable.
