As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think that it's harsh and Wrong to accuse Wenger of not being a winner, clearly he is and has won a lot of silverware, I put this to anyone, had Mourinho been restricted with a budget transfer fund as wenger has had what do you honeslty think he would have won.....
I'll go first.....Fek all
As i always say to those who say Mourinho buys success.Porto.Yes those big spenders of the Portugese league who won the CL in 2004 yes the year when we had our greatest team
He gets big jobs because he is a winner. He will never celebrate 4th place like our clown of a manager
Haha that old chestnut, the were by FAR the biggest spenders in portugal and the year he won the CL was asbig a fluke as when Liverpool and Chelsea won it (everyone here agrees how lucky those to were or are we gonna change our opinion now to suit the argument) and equally porto, manure destroyed them in football terms but missed a hatful of chances.
He since went to inter chavski and real, remind me what the chosen one won with probably the most expensive squad in world football.
I will have a bet he doesn't win the pl or cl with chavski in his next tenure.
Then he'll be off to manage Rangers once they've returned to the spl
So what you're saying is that what we really need is a lucky manager?
Also, to be fair to Mourinho, he won a treble including the CL for the first time ever for an Italian club, with an aging Inter Milan team that hadn't got anywhere near in the few years previously despite being Italian Champions a few times, whilst managing to beat a Barcelona team along the way that everyone thought were the best team in Europe at the time. Yes Chelsea subsequently done the same thing a couple of years later but few people are claiming Inter's CL win was lucky.
Finally, I agree with almost every word SteveO has written about Mourinho in the post above this one.

Whilst Fergie and the Self Harmer were arguing on a weekly basis, Mourinho came over bought (admittedly at a high cost) a first class set of players and made Chelsea dominant for 2 years.
Whilst Ferguson was inspired by his new rival and determined to overturn Chelsea at the top, Wenger chose to play the Financial Fair Play card, moaning and bleating about clubs spending beyond their means. Ferguson then did the same to City......his teams were a major factor behind both Mourinho and Mancini losing their jobs. Did he sit back when Real tapped up Ronaldo, and City did the same with Tevez.......nope. He might have been outspoken at the time but he got on with rebuilding United, not worried by looking over the neighbour's fence to see what was going on.
Mourinho really rattles Wenger.....he knows it, he plays on it, and he gets on with beating him time after time
*word censored* or not, this is a bad appointment for the Wenger followers but it now means the top 3 is out of sight

Jose is a winner plain and simple he would never celebrate finishing 4th time and time again!
Its only going to get worse for Arsenal as I fully expect Wenger to be "rewarded" with a new contract.
Any club that allows Mourinho to spend £100-200M on players wouldn't allow 4th place - that's why!
He does produce the majority of the time but usually at a cost. No denying he did well at Porto but so did AVB. Had he been given the same crazy budget as Mourinho i'd have expected him to win the league as well.
Probably wishful thinking but i'm unsure Mourinho will be able to deliver at Chelsea this time around. It will depend largely on the finances IMO. We'll see I guess.
I suspect he'll do what he always does; spend a massive amount of money on proven stars, who will get huge, long-term contracts, who will have little sell on value and be really difficult to move on, then he'll throw his toys out of the pram and sod off somewhere else.
However, he'll probably win a couple of trophies in the meantime.
Both Chelski and Inter went backwards after he left, but imo it was more due to the squad he left behind than the quality of the managers who took over.
I'd hate him to do this to us, but a trophy would be nice.

ffs isn't this what we are craving spending big £££££££ and winning something, you cant moan at Wenker having millions to spend and then not spending it then us scraping 4th every season and him celebrating it as a trophy then complain that mourinho likes to spend money and only wins stuff cos hes spent big!!!!it defies logic, which way do people here fucking want it?spend nothing and limp home but be oh so fucking p.c or blow the ££££££££ and win everything in sight,i know which id rather have
I, for one, will be looking forward to him coming to the Premiership as he always was very entertaining in the press. He wound people up like no one else and that is really what football is all about - entertainment. He won with big budgets and is a tactically astute manager.
I don't get the comments about him being a horrible man - how would any of you know what kind of man that he is? His public persona may be one of arrogance and playing up like a primadonna, but I don't for one minute think that he is like that in private.

agreed,i think he's bit of a smoothie tbh, straight out of the GG mould,if he were our manager we'd be loving him, sour grapes in shed loads in here me thinks
I don't really care if he gives the press good stories or not. Whether his quotes mildly tickle me or irritate me to a slightly higher degree than most rival's managers is really not that important when contrasted with the fact that Chelsea are no longer going to be knocking around about the VT spot.
Yes he's had plenty of money to spend wherever he's gone but tbh the debate as to whether he would succeed without that is purely academic because he will have money to spend this summer (particularly after selling Torres and a few others). Not saying he'll make Chelsea the dominant team again (although I wouldn't be at all surprised if they win the PL this year) but he won't be content to amble by 15+ off the leaders even if they remain in the cup competitions. If we don't improve this season then we have no hope in hell of making top 3.

I agree with that. Tis why I wanted him at Arsenal to replace Dear Leader.
So far Wenger's quote of doing his business early this year is looking grim. Looks like another groundhog transfer window.
