Not dissing michu or anything cos he did have a great first season in the premier league but our supposed targets are dropping from higuain, jovetic and villa to a guy that can't even break into the Spanish squad ? Bearing in mind that we probably wouldn't even get him (new contract and all that), it does worry me how much further down the line our transfer targets can go - I know that these are only bullshit rumours but at least if the media could humour me with a few top quality rumours it would be acceptable

Don't understand how anyone could be disappointed in Michu rumors. I would rather have him than any of the three other "high-profile" strikers you listed. What have any of them done recently that has been better than him? Higuain plays in a league where madrid and barca beat 15 of the other teams by 4 or 5 goals almost every meeting. Jovetic simply happens to be the most promising in a league with a decreasing list of world-class players. Villa has been the best in the world but if he wouldn't exactly be in his prime anymore if we got him. Two of our "best" current players can't exactly get in the spain squad either so you can't count that against him.

All of the chances Giroud missed this year that involved actually striking the ball (Sunderland home, pool away, chelsea home & away) need a striker like him. Hell, he had no problem scoring those goals against us.

Lets be honest here.....michu has had 1 excellent season in his career to date - this time last year nobody had really heard of him and spains two big clubs, who have a history of hoovering up the best spanish talent, never even considered him. Now he might well turn out to be a top top player but personally I feel we need any new signings we make to be good enough to quickly slot into our team and lift us up to the next level. A few years ago we could afford to sign players that could develop into among the worlds best but nowadays we need proven quality and for that reason I feel that it is too early to take a punt on a guy that has had 1 excellent season so far. I agree that michu is a better player than giroud, the forehead and wally but is it enough to be just better than those players ? If you actually believe that michu is a better signing than either higuain or david villa then you need to seriously address how you assess players

Btw who are these players that you refer to as being "two of our best" and who cant "exactly get in the spanish squad" ? Surely it isnt cazorla cos he is and has been a regular in the spanish squad for some time now and he actually gets a decent amount of playing time considering the depth of quality in his position in that current spnish squad. The second player in which I assume you refer to is monreal who is also a regular in the spanish squad. Quite how you refer to the guy as "one of our best players" though is beyond me As things stand you couldnt say with any degree of confidence that he is our first choice left full (he should be imo but with wenger who knows ? ) and now you deem him to be one of our best
