SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

doesn't matter who you sign or how much money you spend, it's down to the manager getting the best out of those new players

Arsenal could sign Cesc, Rooney, Higuin, etc, etc....But if they are not motivated or managed properly, you will still win fuck all.

look at Man Utd, Carrick, Young, Cleverly, Valencia & Welbeck not players that would wet the lips of most fans, but all have PL winners medals

Red Gunner wrote:Arsene Wenger admits he made a 'huge mistake' not signing Gareth Bale

Wenger was tracking the Tottenham winger back when he was a young left-back at Southampton, alongside future Arsenal star Theo Walcott.

But while Walcott made the move Arsenal, Bale, now 23, headed to north-London rivals Tottenham, where he is now proving to be one of the best players in the country.

"We didn't take him as we had Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy and didn't want another left-back," Wenger told Al Jazeera Sport.

"I must confess it was a huge mistake as he can play in midfield. He struggled at the start at Tottenham, then they moved him to midfield and he has done exceptionally well.

"The career of a player sometimes depends on playing in the right position."

Bale, who has been linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid this summer, was crowned double Footballer of the Year last season after impressing for Andre Villas-Boas' side.

And Wenger thinks his "power, pace and direct play" will help the Welshman become one of the top five players in the world.
"The career of a player sometimes depends on playing in the right position."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! That's quite rich coming from ol' Arsene.

Looking to buy Ginter?
I must admit, when I first heard I thought we were buying Ginsters, well we do have Santos back, and fat boy needs to be fed.

Like it, one minute it's all bollox in the news about Kos but all true about Higuain wanting to come to us
Erm, are you deliberately ignoring the point? I was putting into context what Kos actually said, not just concentrating on the headline. Then I added that it is rumoured Higuain is wanting to come, I didn't say he was just that he would be a good signing. I contextualised one point, and then added a rumour to a rumour thread.

Higuain is probably off to Juve - bear in mind they just won their respective league and have Llorente coming in already.

Nero fiddles while Arsenal burns to the ground....but wait - Giroud has better stats than Drogba and Henry in their first year and next year will show everyone.... :banghead: :banghead:

Sorry for the negative post - but I feel that we have seen this summer before many times......
The thing with Lewandowski is strange. Offically he has one year to go and every club could make an offer for him, but it looks like he has a pre-deal with Bayern with he is offically not allowed to sign :?

It looks like you have even more money to spend:
Arsenal have further boosted their financial firepower in the transfer window by freeing up around £10m from their annual wage bill after Andrey Arshavin, 32, Denilson, 25, and Sebastien Squillaci, 32, finally ran down their contracts and were allowed to leave for nothing.

Don't worry we'll give Diaby a 4 year 80k a week extension and the status quo will continue.
