F*&k Off Laurent Koscielny

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Cockerill's chin wrote:I agree that the story has been blown out of proportion but Kos isn't faultless in this scenario. Kos is an employee of the club and so has a greater duty of care to show more consideration and respect. Comparing his comments to our own is misdirection. As fans, it is the nature of many to criticise, as employees we cannot be so transparent. Especially when it's the national press asking the questions.

The questions he was asked were very easy to sidestep with answers such as "I'm sure Arsenal will compete". It is irrelevant if he believes it or not. He is paid very well by the Arsenal and his answers were at best naive at worse disrespectful. I think there should be an element of gratitude for players like Kos who were more of a gamble than the likes of Cazorla. We gave him a CL platform that he perhaps would have struggled to achieve elsewhere. That gratitude should have provided more of a buffer against naive comments, especially as we have only seen 3 months of quality performances.

Todays footballers are schooled from an early age on speaking to the press. Perhaps training wasn't intense at the Ligue 2 level we plucked him from.

The fact of the matter is after a shaky start to life at the Arse, he is slowly and steadily improved his game to the point that he is probably our best defender, so as others have stated, he is after ,more dosh or "wants to win things", to this l say keep on improving Laurent, and you may get your wish.

But it is a sad state of affairs- will some a professional footballer ever show any loyalty... as a good friend says" all footballers are c---s".

The other side is that Gerd Muller goal against the barcodes..... :barscarf:

non-story IMO, we finally have a decent CB pairing in Kos and Mert and as usual the media are trying to rock the Arsenal boat. don't buy it.

if he DOES leave because we don't sign anybody, we know, as per, who is to blame.

Well done you average prick. The one decent chance we had to win a trophy was your personal fault and nobody else's......so take your sorry ass back to Ligue 2 after a season of benchwarming at Barca

I play centre back and love nothing more than to watch a quality centre back performance which i've seen him do numerous times this season....pace, interceptions, chucking his body in the in the way of shots and very good on the ball! I'm telling you now laurent koscielnys a sublime defender....not an average one.

Then you'll also NOT appreciate a centre back who regularly gets roughed up by the likes of Roberts, Zamora, Kevin Davies etc, which is what happens to Koscielny on a regular basis

I certainly wouldn't call him a "sublime defender". He's been impressive and consistent for a few months but that doesn't mean we should just ignore the previous 2 and a half seasons. If he has a great season next year and doesn't shit his pants every time he faces a physical opponent who likes playing with his back to goal then maybe start talking him up as a great player. Until then he still has a huge amount to prove and stories suggesting he's Bayern and Barca's top transfer target (printed to fill a slow news day's column inches) aren't very reflective of where he's at.

Calling him a sublime defender is the equivalent of calling Le Chapman a graceful striker

Somebody clearly didn't watch him give Coventry a torrid time (other than the missed penalty), not to mention the Great Brighton Massacre 2013. Shame on you!

Not to mention that one away goal at West Ham last autumn eh? I know, miserable bastard that I am. Who else but the coach of the decade could spend €14m in such style?

FAZACKERLY ,he's hardly carried the team has he ,and he cost a lot of money at the time we bought him and paid him 10 times what he was getting in the French leagues .
We then reward him with a bumper contract for his previous mediocre displays and he does this .
Its not naive or stupid it's calculated because he wants out ,what odds am I given he wont be with us next season ?

Has shown some improvement but don't buy some of the praise he has been getting.

He has slipped over too many times costing us in big games.

When he lifts a couple of trophies and been consistent for a couple of seasons then fair enough
