As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You mean it's not a proper charcoal BBQ? Fuck that!
1 year contract extension = a simple gas BBQ, a few bangers and burgers and bring your own booze
2 year extension = upgrade on the food quality, I luv AW T-shirts, Away Boyz live performance, 2 free drinks of your choice
3 year extension or higher = prime quality Aberdeen Angus, an official opening ceremony with guest of honour Patrick Barclay followed by a Real Fans Have Real Patience celebration march down the Holloway Road, camping on my back lawn watching Fever Pitch all night. Grade A admission price of £62, backstage VIP passes to meet the Away Boyz, full Arsenalization of the garden, AW's Biggest Fan competition hosted by Rodders and Donaldo, unlimited champagne courtesy of the Diamond Club and full firework display to close the evening with a no-expense-spared illumination bearing the words "Be Careful What You Wish For". A celebration video of 17 years consecutive qualification for the CL will be running in the background and a big box of Kleenex will be on hand for those too overwhelmed with excitement

Ivan admits we have stagnated, if the board of any business thought that, management heads would roll.
But not here, here they get a new contract dangled under their nose.
Shame Gazidis would not elaborate on the reasons for this stagnation, poor player investment, poor tactics, poor motivation.
An even bigger shame he can't keep his trap shut and let the money do the talking.
A piece from the May issue of World Soccer magazine when they were discussing the fact that england had no team in champs league quarter finals and wengers comments on the subject -
Wenger said " It's a massive wake up call. That means that the rest of european football has caught up"
Wenger's claims that the defeats were "a massive wake up call" may have been questionable but he had cleverly steered the debate to a wider discussion of english failure in europe and away from the narrow scrutiny of his own limitations. Arsenal had fought back commendably against bayern winning 2-0 in munich for a 3-3 aggregate score only to lose on away goals but they never seemed capable of recovering from a drubbing in the first leg in London.
The bayern defeat highlighted familiar supporter concerns about wenger's Arsenal - concerns that increase every year that the club goes without silverware. Just as wenger steered the european debate away from Arsenal, so he has been happy for discussion on the club's domestic problems to be centred on financial issues rather than technical and tactical matters. The departures of key players such as rvp and cesc has often been portrayed as being financially motivated, but the painful truth is that both players left to further their football ambitions.
Arsenal are still repaying the costs of constructing the emirates stadium but they are not exactly paupers. They have the 4th largest wage bill in the league and recently awarded walcott a new deal worth 100k per week. Last summers signings cazorla (16m), giroud (10m) and podolski (11m) were hardly bargain basement buys.
There was a lot more to that article but I too busy/lazy to type it all. It basically says a lot of what we have said on here but it is the first time I have seen it put into print by any media outlet.
You can say theyre not bargain basement but hes only spent what hes recouped, its not the club giving him money too spend.. All AKB will resort too the 1million net profit per year on average in transfer fee etc etc and im in no way pro Wenger all but at the same time im not against him, not to win a trophy with the base he had is a big failure, however i think the stability he has given the club in the past 8 years along with the debts the cub encountered has been phenomenal, champions league consistently is a great achievement and its this along with his the profits from the signings like rvp, cesc, nasri, adebayor that has given us this opportunity,, a springboard into europes financial elite, its always been said that it was a 7-8 year plan and all debts would be gone, now ill give him 2 more seasons and see what he can produce! He has steered us here, trophy-less but still i think hes had us on the right path in a time when poor management of a team can lead to financial ruin, so Wenger deserves this chance ...i hope he takes it because it would be a shame if after all the great work hes done for the club he is remebered for his failure to take us from decent dometic club to a top European force.

This has been a complete waste of time with the current Billionaires at City and Chelsea. They will get the big names our fans will spend the cash and watch DVDs of Henry and Bergkamp to remember great players at our team

Your spelling is awful. You have an 'A' instead of the 'Y' and have got the letters in completely the wrong order FFS. S-T-A-Y-I-N-G . Next time get it right.

If he really is trying to get a deal on Fellaini's release clause, then its just going to be the same summer buying shit and having another last day battle for 4th with the ****. Unless we buy big and we challenge for trophies next year, he shouldn't be getting anywhere near a new contract

and if this comes to pass and he gets a new contract, I will be chucking in my season ticket as well.
