As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Probably for the same reason that many of us on this site want him out of the club - because he won't splash the cash to buy what is needed.
I am resigned to us buying nobody of note and the usual excuses coming out while our alleged targets are snapped up by other teams that we moved to the Emirates to compete with.
Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised and he will bury a habit of the past 10 years. Tis why I posted that free French transfer a couple of pages ago despite Sky not linking us with him - I think that is what he is going to end up buying rather than players like Fellani.
To be fair sid, that deal is in place a long time before moaninho joined them

Yes isn't it amazing. Where are all those arguments about "the transfer window's not even open yet" and Chelsea and City needing to pull back on their spending this year because of the wonderful FFP rules that UEFA will never legally be able to implement.
Pedestrian Arsenal sit back and take the moral high ground whilst those around them do their business again
Hardly a jot of a decent rumour in the past 2 days. Take it all the season ticket money has rolled in now
2 weeks maximum away from statements coming out of the club warning of the need 'to hold back until qualification for the CL group stage is assured'

And so begins another familiar window story......
Not mine steve o.....finally broke the vicious circle and gave up my season tickets
I have a feeling someone is trying to yank my chain, but I was told that we are unable to make signings until July 1st because all our medical staff are on vacation until then.
This can't be true, can it?

In spain they do the medicals in the hospitals dont they ? Do we not do the same ? Maybe we should consider skipping the middle men (our medical team) and send them straight to the hospitals anyway

Think the person to ask is arteta for what I heard never had a medical
I dunno whats happening in Serie A. I guess the clubs are going the same way as Holland, becoming feeder clubs. I can see AW being interested being how young he is.
He would be IDEAL!!
In what sense? Just another young attacking midfielder/forward of which we have plenty.
I happen to think he could/would become an outstanding striker of which we have none.
Don't you think we need a proven world class striker who is ready now, rather than one that has shown some promise but won't necessarily provide the goods immediately, if at all? One could also argue that strengthening the defence or even finding a proper defensive midfield would take priority over signing another young player with 'potential' but that in reality has only had one good season at Milan - especially given the likely fee required to get the latter ?

With the cash we have and the dearth of realistic alternates i think he would be a great investment and would not preclude the additional purchases you speak of. I also think in two years he is going to be worth a fortune.
As for bargains - i don't see why we wouldnt snap up Schwarzer on a free and maybe even Malouda. I thought he was seriously underated albeit hasnt played much.
"Manchester City’s pursuit of youngster Stephan El Shaarawy may be back on after AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani indicated that the club may cash in on the Italian. It could also mean a swap deal with City involving Carlos Tevez, who is widely tipped to make the move to Italy this summer."
Arsenal's pre season transfers started as early as 30 April 2012, when Arsenal announced they were going to sign German international Lukas Podolski from Cologne for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £10.9m. Podolski officially joined Arsenal when the summer transfer window opened on 1 July.
Not fcuking likely - the first reasonable offer they get will see him depart from that club. Of course we should be the club signing him, especially considering that they still owe us money, but "mr I have worked 30 years in football so know it all", will stand back and let the scum down the road sign him for fcuk all
If we interested (and I dont know if we are or if we should be) interested in this guy, then we need to be signing the guy before napoli get the financial windfall from selling cavani

Arsenal forward Gervinho is the subject of interest from Marseille, the French club's assistant coach has confirmed.
