SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Even better! :barscarf:

To be honest, I'm not convinced Wenger/Arsenal have it in them to ever finish above a team managed by Mourinho. And there would have to be an almighty swing in fortunes for us to overtake United in such a short space of time.

I think a domestic cup is more realistic. I'd even say winning the CL (as unlikely as that is) is more realistic than winning the league, as in a cup competition, you can get by on luck and 2 or 3 superb performances, whereas I doubt we have the consistency to out-perform Chavs, Citeh and United over 38 games - maybe one of them, or (at a push) two, but not ALL three! :(

Apparently Liverfool are in for Hnerikh Mksomething. 25 goals in 28 games very impressive for an AMC.

Liverpool have really bought themselves a young side with lots of potential. It has the lowest average age of the prem. We need to get a crack on because we have been complacent the past 2 years. Hell the past 8 years.

They may be young but they're also shite. Coutinho has looked good in the flashes I've seen of him but when Suarez goes where is their quality? Henderson and Allen are never going to be better than average and tbh they never were.

As long as that arrogant prick Rodgers is in charge thinking that anything less than Total Football isn't worth his time they won't get near challenging and are still some way off a top 4 berth. They'll continue to pay twice the price for average players.

yup.liverpool are shite and will continue to be so,i couldn't care who they sign because like us they only sign shite but worse shite than we do,liverpool will continue to languish around the Europa league places until they open their eyes and realise Rodgers is shite, how we havent slumped as low as them yet is anybodys guess

Arsene Wenger will launch a £22million bid for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain this week.

Arsenal boss Wenger is increasingly confident of landing the Argentinian star after Italian champions Juventus were put off when Real insisted their £18m valuation was nowhere near enough.

However, Real president Florentino Perez was quoted last week as saying that the Gunners shouldn't bother if they were planning on offering 'only' £25.5m for the 25-year-old.

Higuain, who is currently on around £130,000-a-week, would be the sort of big-name, proven-commodity signing that Arsenal fans are craving in a summer when their club is said to have fortunes to spend.

Meanwhile, defender Laurent Koscielny - a target for Barcelona and Bayern Munich - has made it clear to the Gunners that he wants to stay.

Koscielny is under contract until 2017 and Arsenal insist he is not for sale, is happy at the Emirates and that his young family are settled in London.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted Crystal Palace are keen on taking Arsenal's Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell on a season-long loan.

Campbell, 20, who has 24 caps, has already enjoyed impressive loan spells at France's Lorient and Real Betis in Spain, so a work permit will not be an issue.

A year playing for a Premier League club would also help his development
