SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Only a 100k a week? I thought Higgy is on 150k at Madrid.

Its quite likely the 150k is in € rather than £, either that or he's tempted to join us because of our trophy success,s :D

Away for 11 days and no real surprise to come back and find that nothing has happened

Hopefully more interesting goings on in corkbarry's GIF thread...

No, he's on around €65k at Real Madrid.

They had promised him a new contract but then took too long to.actually offer him one which pissed him off.

Even so a 150k euro is about 127k pound. Perhaps the UK has a lower tax rate and that has allowed for Higgy to take a pay cut without losing money. Either that or he isnt on 150 euro or he's taking a pay cut to join.

There's no way he's on 65k euro.

If we sign Higuain it will be the biggest signing since Sol Campbell without doubt.

Would also be very nice to know those running the show realise that we are still a big club who plenty of top players would love to play for.

A lot of positive noises being made and I know it's still a few days off being done at least but with SSN confirming some stories about personal terms being agreed in principle I'm very optimistic despite doing my best to ignore all football with the sporting feast this summer has offered. Which is dangerous - it's the hope that kills you :banghead:

I remember the big fuss though when we brought Reyes, especially after his mauling of the Madrid team for Sevilla in their 4-1 (I think :?: ) win. I was taken aback when that was announced.

The good thing about this Higuain situation is now is that the rumour seems to be pretty substantial, we either do buy him, or that there is a sudden breakdown of contract/transfer talks, or another team nip in and pinch him from us, the board and/or manager will be humiliated in full public. Win/win. :rubchin:

I haven't seen this much gossip about a big player potentially joining us for a long time and to be honest it's quite exciting (against my better judgement  ).

There'll be alot of pissed off fans if this doesn't go through.

I can't help but think we are a day or so away from the dreaded Wenger interview stating "we are not in for him and never were" then "I'll let you know when we sign someone"
