The Higuain transfer looks nailed on, the bookies have stopped taking bets on it, whilst I welcome it, we should remember he was being kept out of the Madrid by Benzema so whether he will cut it in the prem lge remains to be seen.
Though as others have said, it is a huge transfer in comparison with the usual dross we get, eg Giroud.

Whether he starts or not, his goal ratio for club and country isn't too bad....

I think most teams would rather sell to us because of our healthy bank balance, juventus can bid twice as much as much but who wants it paid back at 50p a week for a million years, with us you know it will be paid in one hit

Arsenal ready to offload Johan Djourou with Hanover and Hamburg keen

Arsenal's attempts to shift players from their wage bill before revamping the squad this summer are set to gather pace with Hamburg and Hanover having expressed an interest in signing Johan Djourou.

The Switzerland centre-half spent the second half of the season on loan at Hanover, where he played 14 times, and impressed the Bundesliga club sufficiently for them to seek to sign him on another season-long loan. Djourou is under contract at Arsenal until the summer of 2015 and they would prefer to move the 26-year-old on, with Hamburg's interest potentially offering them a route to achieving that aim.

"I know Johan very well from my time in Switzerland [with Basel]," said Oliver Kreuzer, Hamburg's sporting director. "He's a very interesting player and someone you have to look at if he comes on the market. He'd be a great solution for us in defence. We're interested in a loan, but also in buying him."

Nicklas Bendtner, who was loaned to Juventus last term, has also attracted interest from Bundesliga clubs – principal among them Eintracht Frankfurt – and is expected to move before the start of the season.

The deadwood is hard to shift ,
Djourou gets 60 k a week and wont get more than 30 k in the bundesliga so a right off would be good .
Bendy is on 52 K a week and wont get more than 35 in the Bundesliga so another free transfer beckons but go ahead I say .

Ive no idea what we pay Myachi and Park but I reckon we break even on them so no loss there

Two though are far harder to move on and count as some of our worst signing's ever

Marouane Chamakh is on a staggering 80 k a week and some sources quote this as higher ,over 90 k in some reports.
West ham paid about 40 a week which left us paying 40/50 k a week to keep this man and he has a year left on his contract !
Nobody will pay more than 30 k a week for his services so we look like blowing 2/3 million on him this year

Andre Santos on 60 k a week and i think has 3 years left on his contract .......we will be lucky to raise 30 k a week from anyone to get rid ,a cool 1.5 mill a year blown

In addition to the above we will also most likely sell Vermaelen,Sagna,Podolski and Gervinho if the price is right .

I've said many times that we will not net spend more than 20 million and I still believe that but worse I think we will not buy much until we sell, so expect more inertia followed by a scramble to pick up cheap players after Chelsea,Juve,Barca,Inter,PSG,ETC ,have filled their boots.

Madrid have created a Dutch auction for Higuian and we've never won one of these before ,we wont pay the fellaini price and rooney was a non starter so who we get is anyone's guess

We will then go into scramble mode paying too much for players already left on the Europa shelf.

I've felt for 3/4 seasons that each one was a watershed but this one might just tip people over the edge if Arsenal fail to step up !

Our awarding Yaya Sonago a 4 year contract despite him playing no more than 15 games in 3 years fills me with dark foreboding .

"It's like Deja vu all over again" to quote the great Yogo Berra

Higuain has the highest conversion rate in the Spanish league after Messi. Yes better than the likes of Ronaldo and Falcao. He wasn't kept out by Benzema, he was rotated with him. Often in the big games, Mourinho opted to play him ahead of Benzema.

Mourinho didn't seem to have much faith in Higuian or Benzema. Benzema may have a bit more flair, but Higgy's attitude and work rate are better. I'm still not convinced he's top class, but if Cavani and Lewandovski are not options then he's definitely a step up on Giroud etc.

What's wrong with that? Yes if we only sign 18 year olds this summer it'll be shit, but signing young players isn't a bad thing. The same people that moan about that are the same people that go mental when United etc pick up quality youth players when they develop into class players.

Because we have a lot of weak areas in the team and squad that need addressing.......is left back one of those positions ? I would have thought that the purchase of nacho allied to gibbs has pretty much nailed down our left back positions so why buy another ? :? Monreal and gibbs are young enough to have at least another 3 or 4 seasons in them so isn't buying an 18 year old left full a bit redundant then especially when the guy will cost a minimum of £2.5m ?

When you have a squad like citeeh or their red scum neighbours then you can afford to take a punt on the best young talent that comes available but we are nowhere near that position - as things stand we need to fulfil needs first and foremost and then, and only then, can we afford to take a punt on another unproven player.
Btw when or who was the last quality young player that manure picked up and turned into world class ? :rubchin:
