Bournemouth charge £60 for a friendly
As stated in the title, Bournemouth are playing Real Madrid at home on 21st July. They are charging £60 for the privilege and £55 to season ticket holders.
No outcry like the Man. Citeh fans about our 'overcharging', what a surprise. It seems as if the media jump on us as quick as possible to have a go, but anyone else is ok to charge what they like.

Hideously overpriced for a friendly, but why have a media outcry?
No one is forced to go and watch it; it is what is appears to be, an attempt at raising funds, and no doubt a chunk of the gate money will go to Real Madrid too.
Not sure at all they will fill the stadium at those prices, even if it is a 10,700 capacity.

Re: Bournemouth charge £60 for a friendly
The difference is that Premier League clubs are greedy as fuck and are charging an arm and a leg even when there is plenty of money floating about due to sponsorship/ TV deals etc, they're pricing people out of watching their own clubs. What Bournemouth are doing isn't great but its a one off chance for their fans to see them against the biggest club in the world (hopefully Madrid have agreed to play a good number of first team players) and they probably need to try and do things like this in order to survive due to the fact that all the money in the game is funneled to the top clubs who then proceed to spunk hundreds of grand a week on mediocre players and millions of quid a year on parasites (sorry, agents).
There's a difference between charging £60 as a one off to try and survive (and its only a friendly, not as if anyone who can't afford it will be missing a competitive fixture) and just trying to rinse as much money as possible out of your supporters to the point where genuine fans who have been following the "working mans" sport for generations can no longer afford to take their kids to watch a competitive game because the club wants to spend a fortune on wages, agents fees and dividends for the share holders.

Re: Bournemouth charge £60 for a friendly
Absolute disgusting for a friendly, this is opening the door for more lower league clubs charging premium prices if they get such friendlies
i hope the bournemouth fc management get a gate of ten people

Cos the chairman of bournemouth was in the media hyping up this game and saying how attracting a team like real madrid is a "reward" to their dedicated fans.......how the fcuk is fleecing those dedicated fans equate to a reward ? I knew this morning when I read the quotes, that the fans were going to get screwed by the club cos this is (in theory at least) a huge payday for them but dont bullshit them by making comments about rewarding them ffs

Re: Bournemouth charge £60 for a friendly
I don't know enough about Bournemouth's financial standing to know if it's understandable or not.
In theory, if they're desperate for money, I can see why they've done it for a one off game. Arsenal charge those prices AND UPWARDS for cat. A games, which is a far bigger crime in my book.

Why all the fuss
I go down to Bournemouth a few times a year, they charge £60 for 4 hours PARKING

Good luck to them, it's a one off!
How many lower league teams attract a team like Real Madrid?? It'll be a sell out, milk it, the funds will help them for the season ahead. There is no way a comparison to the premier league week in week out ticket pricing.

An interesting story....We'll have to see what the crowd will be.
I predict lower than 8888.

I agree with our Mackem mate, it's a friendly. Nobody has to go.
Far worse charging loyal home and away fans crazy prices for Prem fixtures when tons of tv money pours in.
Especially at non league quality grounds like Loftus Rd.
I may even go to Bournemouth for this, could be a laugh.

Re: Bournemouth charge £60 for a friendly
A couple years ago Real Madrid came to Toronto and played a friendly against Toronto FC. Tickets were around $400CAD; £250.
I paid about £90 back about four years ago to watch Everton v River Plate in a friendly in my city (Edmonton, CAN) too.
Expensive dog and pony shows. The Everton game was well worth it to see some Prem' players play live, but I wouldn't go anywhere near the ridiculous prices of the Madrid game.

£60 is a lot less than £90, let alone £250...

Re: Bournemouth charge £60 for a friendly
Depends on the club's financial situation really. £60 just seems a bit excessive to me though - especially as it's a friendly and who knows what team Real are going to put out? Something like £40-45 would be far more reasonable and still hugely lucrative.
As has been said people don't have to buy tickets but there's always some emotional blackmail involved in buying football tickets.
