SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

 to be honest as soon as I heard he'd signed my first thought was "I'd better start a vito mannone progress thread". Wasn't actually going to do a proper thread like, it was just going to have a message body along the lines of "just kidding, lock it down" but then I realised that I couldn't be arsed so I didn't. Would have been canny funny like even if I do say so myself!

But anyway, aye, mint, Vito Mannone :| To be fair I'm assuming he won't be first choice and will just be there to put pressure on Kieran Westwood so I suppose its okay, hope he does well (but don't worry, I won't keep you updated every step of the way  )

Surely now we have got rid of Vito we must be bringing in another keeper? I wouldn't be surprised if the Cesar deal was done before he left so fingers crossed we'll hear an announcement over the next few days??? If we end up promoting Martinez or buy someone useless (more probable) i'll probably go insane.

This is true but maybe you don't really believe what you are saying?? Its now July 3 and we have signed............................one young, injury prone player from the French 2nd Division.
Get our work done early Gazidis said......................Haven't we been here before??

One for Hlebby me thinks!

Everything is the same except everyones head has a big hole in the middle, doughnut style, making headers as rare and prone to spectacular failure as overhead kicks. Also, having one eye either side of the head means that defenders preference for playing for offside is something of a given.

Yeah, but this is a real possibility and it wouldn't surprise me at all should it actually happen. Anyway, who was the top scorer in Ligue 1 this season? :banghead:

Mate, this story broke on Goal and everyone has been copy and pasting it. It's bollocks.

Jorge Higuain (His father): We have permission to negotiate & hope that soon I can complete my child's move to the Premier League.''

If that's true (the £4m haggling bit) that is horrible but unsurprising news. We want 'big' signings or we don't. We have the cash (apparently) guess what we don't is the appetite/ambition. FMOB! Thought long and hard about this year's renewal...did in the end. Last chance saloon. Fucking surprise me Arsenal...nicely, not as usual ,recently, disappointingly

Don't blame you for renewing as I would have done exactly the same had I the option of doing so. I disagree with those complaining about people who are renewing their tickets just because they feel that the club won't change their ways unless you decline to do so. Why should you give up the opportunity to watch the team you love every week due to our tight-fisted board and deluded managers transfer dealings?
That said, i'm almost certain that we will get Higuain and Cesar this summer, the only stumbling block for me is our manager "haggling" over a few pence to make our balance sheet look good next year
