Having a trial run of the BBQ today

Hopefully There's Only One Arsene Wenger will put us all out of our misery soon and sign that new deal to lead us to 19 consecutive years of Chumpions League 'glory'

This is why we need new blood in the fucking boardroom... someone with a pair fucking big enough to sack the manager or refuse to offer him a new contract. Not the spineless bunch of senile old :censored: we have now, who are scared stiff of Wenker and wouldn't have a word said against him. This has seriously fucked me off! :banghead:
SteveO best you light the BBQ. :barscarf:

I buy the financial constraints line enough to say that consistent CL league qulifications has been fair enough. Not brilliant management, not miracle working, but a decent enough return to merit one last shot, spending some proper money to push on to the next level.

However, if we dont see some excellent signings this window, and or, if those signings flop, then I think his time should be up, as we need not only a top qualified manager, but also importantly, a driven, ambitious and charismatic manager (and wider management team -Gazidis??) to get us back to the top, not merely "consolidate" year on year. Consolidating might be ok for some, but not what big, top teams do. I wouldnt expect even the likes of Everton or Liverpool to settle for CL qualification long term. Long term, any big club has to be striving for glory, and if Wenger cant get us back to the top or there abouts this season, its time for him to go.

in a way players like Park or Jeffers - mistaken signings who don't play too much
aren't the bad ones. Even Silvestre (who played WAY too much) was essentially a backup.
My WORST signing by a mile is Almunia - because he was first choice for a long time
and let us down whenever it mattered most

Completely agree with that rationale. It's annoying when you spunk away a few million on a shit player but at the end of the day it's an inevitability when you manage a club for years. Although there have been far too many of these signings recently the thing that really hurts us is when Wenger stubbornly refuses to cut his losses. You can't carry a poor keeper and Almunia cost us repeatedly.

I'd like to say Wenger has changed but given that Gervinho will probably make 30+ appearances for us again next season I really can't.

Really? :? He has for a good number of years been renowned for having very good sources at the club and is certainly more trustworthy than John Cross!!

of course we desperately need a striker and I'll be delighted if get Higuain
but if we can get our money back on Gervinho (then spend it) I'll be deEFFINGlighted
