SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The David Villa deal is estimated at a maximum of 5.1 million, spread over 2.1 million this year, 2 million more if the player belongs to Atletico Madrid season 2014/15 and another million if it extends his contract until the season 2015/16. In addition, the club reserves 50% of the rights to future transfer of the player.
For 2 million???
The deal is set to bring Barca a maximum of 5.1 million Euros, with 2.1 due this season, 2 more if Villa stays at Atletico next year and another million should he be at the Madrid club the season after. Barça also reserve the right to 50% of any sell on fee in the future. Link

You've got to admire the optimism of Mes que une c**ts, they are sellng a 31 year old with a poor injury record and hoping for a 50% sell on value after possibly a 3 year contract. Who the hell is going to buy a 34yr old striker with a history of injury.

There's always triffic 'Arry I suppose. I'm sure he can persuade yet another mug of a chairman to overspend on rubbish.

As far is Villa is concerned, it just proves that ALL internet rumour/speculation as complete BS as the general belief was that Villa would be signing for our shadow dwellers today and he ends up staying in Spain.

I laugh at all this talk of 'class' regarding Arsenal to be honest. A string of historical incidents show we are anything but classy. Suarez is a proven goal scorer and that is the kind of player we need if we want to be a trophy winning team/club.

On the plus side there were Spurs fans all over Twatter thinking they were gonna sign either Gomez or Villa.

Hmmmm.....See this is what Arsenals recent transfer windows have done to fans, hoping that our rivals lose their quality players rather than us buying quality one ourselves.

If we buy 3/4 quality players then it won't matter if bale stays at the spuds, but IF we fail to add the quality and the spuds add a couple of decent signings they will end up above us.

I would love Suarez at Arsenal. He can play on the left wing, which would be very useful for us. Could you imagine:

------------------------------------------------Higuain---------------------------------

Suarez------------------------------------------------------------------------------Walcott

-----------------------------------------------Cazorla-------------------------------

---------------------------------Wilshere/Arteta----------------new DM-

Gibbs-------------------------Kosch-------------------Merty------------------------Sagna

---------------------------------------new GK----------------------------------------

We would be a real threat with that team. Defences wouldn't know how to cope with the pace and movement.

Pace and movement? :coffeespit: That was coached out of Arsenal many years ago. Even with the best players in the world, the coach of the decade would find new and unique ways for us to throw points away with his bizarre formations, lack of tactics and pre-planned substitutions. Not to mention the disregarding of any league games that might happen to fall a few days before a CL match

I would rather have Villa on the left. And as he's gone, I still prefer Poldi. Suarez is a :censored:

When are we signing Loic Remy then? £5 million panic buy on deadline day. Higuain & Fellaini just distant memories.
